Visiting the Art Sonje Center in Seoul in Aug 2021 was a profoundly moving experience. The curated space and the photographic artwork were both thought-provoking and evocative. Themes of extremities, natural phenomena, and supernatural beliefs of the locals intertwined seamlessly, each element resonating on different levels. I visited here for the exhibition "Seoul weather station" by Moon Kyungwon & Jeon Joonho. A part of the exhibition "To build a fire" was great! I could see "spot" ( a robot ) by Boston dynamics as a guide of the immersive installation and felt that I was in between virtual and real as the artists supposed. The cafe next to the museum is also nice. I could get a discount to get a coffee by showing the museum ticket

The use of white, thin cotton threads and mummified black lava created a stark contrast, while circles, composition, and texture added layers of meaning that felt both tangible and abstract. The artwork spoke of redemption, debris, and the fragile linkageโ€”or lineageโ€”between past and present. Half-soaked in salty water, the imagery seemed to evoke the soul of the dead, with brass bowls symbolizing reconciliation rather than perfection. The emotions conveyed were desperate yet hopeful, a delicate balance that kept me reflecting long after I left the gallery. There were so many elements to contemplate, each knocking on the door of the mind, inviting deeper introspection. The experience was like a conversation with the artworkโ€”ongoing, never quite complete, yet profoundly fulfilling.
