I had a great stay for 5 nights at Woo's! It looks just like the photos on the website! Clean and the place fairly new (started operations sometime in June '15).||||Woo is very helpful, we arrived earlier than check-in time and he helped us with our (heavy) luggages through a small elevator behind the house ONLY for bags. I also noticed throughout our stay that Woo would wait up late, sometimes past midnight, for his other guests to arrive. ||||He also graciously allowed me to use the microwave (and refrigerator!) to store/warm baby's food and our other food stuff as we stay quite far away from Halal restaurants (as we are Muslims). ||||One of the days I asked to borrow his washing machine as baby decided to puke all over our clothes! ||||Location is just GREAT. ||- Just across the road from Gyeongbokgung Palace||- a stone throw from several museums ||- a block away from Samcheong-ro: many2 hipster cafes, small Korean restaurants, litte street shops for some tiny shopping, CHURROS, convenience store etc||- Nearby Insadong & Anguk Metro Station Line 3 (less than 1km)||- There's a McDonald & pharmacy there too just in case. ||- a little away from areas like Myeongdong & Itaewon but not so difficult by Metro||||PLEASE TAKE NOTE:||- Woo Guesthouse is on the 4th & 5th floor and only accessible by stairs! Not the end of the world, especially for us who travelled with an 11-month old!||- Bathrooms are attached BUT toilets are not. Best rooms near toilets are the ones with the windows overlooking the castle! ||- I stayed in the Korean Traditional Ondol Room which has NO WINDOWS facing outside. Not an issue for me though. ||- There's a water dispenser so that's a plus point! ||- There is a hairdryer, VERY GOOD WIFI, shampoo + conditioner, bath foam & bath soap.||- Woo provides towels too but they're kinda small and cute so if you're fussy, bring your own. I happened to bring along a microfiber one that doesn't take too much space and is extremely absorbent. ||- There is no television in the common room (which you will share with other guest, as well as the kitchen) but I think there are rooms with TV. Please double check. ||- Woo can recommend really delicious Chinese or fried chicken delivery take outs! ||- Woo previously had an accident and injured his arm so do help him if you have a crazy oversized luggage!||||Woo lives there with his son and would always be available if you need advice, help or recommendation. The house is safe & secured as there main door has an automatic lock that only can be accessed by a special key, which is attached to your room key. ||||Would definitely stay here again if we come to Seoul. And would recommend it to friends! Thanks Woo for such great hospitality! (Trust me, I'm from the hospitality...
Read moreWe booked the twin room with a private bathroom for 4 night but the host said he could not give us that room upon our arrival. He offered to give us a room with 2 bunk beds for 3 nights and a korean ondol room for 1 night. We said we could not accept the offer then he became very rude and said he could cancel the booking, he even said that "you paid so little", "we are a guesthouse you cannot expect five stars hotel service". Eventually we had to give in as we did not have other options. The guesthouse has very poor management the host did not seem to know our booking at all and the reception did not open for the first 3 days we stayed there. Don't trust the reception opening hours stated in the website. The guesthouse located in the top 2 floors in the building, there is no lift so you will have to carry your luggage for 4 floors unless the staff is around. The accommodation was overall clean and the only staff there was nice and helpful and speaks chinese and little english (though you would not know when he is going to be around). The toilet is outside even if you book a room with private bathroom, the bathroom inside the bedroom does not contain a toilet bowl. The blind in the bedroom has no block out effect at all, make sure you bring your...
Read moreThis guest house offers clean basic accommodation in one of the best locations in Seoul overlooking the Gyeongbokgung Palace with superb views from the front windows. We were there for two nights and found it just about adequate for our needs being on the more basic side, but the bed was comfortable and the convenience of location couldn't be bettered. We arrived on the subway from Gimpo airport and had about a ten minute walk from the station, and a five minute walk to get the airport limousine to Incheon. The room was on the small side with a basic shower room, and a toilet outside the room which was just for our room - there are three guest rooms. The towels were only hand towels, two each but we managed. There is a cold and boiling water dispenser on the landing which was very useful, and a hairdryer in the room. The blinds let in the daylight so an eye mask was useful, but the room was spotlessly clean, and on the day of check out we were able to leave our luggage there until much later in the day, while we carried on sight seeing. The price we paid was very reasonable for a place in...
