MSCHF : NOTHING IS SACRED

Visited MSCHF after work. Intrigued by their claim to resist the system, criticize, satirize, and poke at the irrational aspects of humanity.

They had many works that mocked the act of giving rarity and value to already famous brands and figures. While exploring such pieces, the description questioning the lack of value in even well-known names made me reflect on myself.

However, though I sensed meaning in confronting human vanity, desire for conspicuousness, and rarity, I wondered if MSCHF's ultimate purpose is satire and criticism. Behind the seemingly justifiable rationale, I could also perceive the perspective that MSCHF, by riding on established luxury and figures, might be engaging in commercial activities...

The museum is located in the residential area of Tongui-dong, near the time-honored Gyeongbokgung Palace. The museum, which was designed by French architect, Vincent Cornu, and built by the Daelim Corporation, opened its door to the public in late May, 2002.

On the first floor, there is a garden, parking lot, reception desk, storage area, and conference room. On the second and third floor are offices and a 180-pyeong (approx. 595m²) exhibition hall consisting of small and large rooms, a long gallery, and a special high-ceilinged...

The one of famous art gallery in Korea. First of all, the location is fabolous. The gallery is close to Royal Palace Station line No.3. Once you arrived here, you can see the beautiful skyline that Bugaksan mountain ridges make. You can walk through the narrow street and find this place. In weekend, It may be crowded. But the waiting room is cozy and easy to sit. Then your turn arrived, you can enjoy various exhibition may interest you. Price is reasonable. Taking picture is allowed. Do not forget the time...

Museum crawling is an integral part of our travels. We were lucky to be given tickets for MSCHF’s “Nothing Is Sacred” exhibition. As fashion and art lovers, we were thrilled. Daelim Museum spans four floors and we got to view all the MSCHF’s controversial pieces all under one roof. Including my favorite stunt by them — Cutting up a Damien Hirst piece as a commentary on the art world. Curation was top tier. Definitely a treat!
