Personal favorite of any movie theaters, for a variety of reasons but mainly for the following two: Film Society and The Boutique. Film Society is a program which hosts films that received critical acclaim but unfortunately was not as popular in the box office. It is a breath of fresh air, as theaters are often dominated by major film distributors and their popular movies. It also plays movies that has been receiving constant love since its last time at the box office. Film society is placed a little away from the main theaters, with wooden interior and comfy leather cushions decked with film related magazines. This definitely shows Megabox's effort to also satisfy a rather minor audience and their love for films. While it varies, the tickets are a little cheaper than for regular box office movies. The Boutique is a premium line of theater that has an entirely separate lounge, decorated luxuriously yet comfortingly. Boutique theaters are smaller than half the size of a regular theater, but you are guaranteed a comfortable viewing experience with a recliner that lies all the way back, personal drawer and a dedicated concierge that will be happy to take orders of wine, steak and other bistro menus should you want. This is cinema at ultimate pampering, and while it does not come cheap-30 bucks per person-I would rather watch a movie here once than in a regular...

I've never had a problem seeing films in English. They always have the blockbusters, but they also screen a selection of "curated" titles. These tend to be screened in the smaller, Screen A/B. These screens seat about 30 people and the quality isn't incredible but I appreciate being able to see something different.
I was able to see Apocalypse Now re-mastered in the Dolby Atmos cinema. That was amazing, it was my first time to see that film and the huge screen and Atmos audio was a great experience - if anything, it was too loud which I've noticed a couple of times.
The Boutique cinema zone is pretty cool, you get slippers and a reclining chair. It would be good for a date or a solo treat. It was about 30K for a ticket.
For your average cinema visit, I'd say it's an excellent place to come to! I've probably visited over ten times, I keep coming back. Clean interior, comfy seats and it's simple enough to buy your ticket there or to book your ticket through the app if you have some knowledge of purchasing things online in Korea.
One thing I wish, is that they screened the occasional Korean film with English subtitles! That...
ย ย ย Read moreHey there, let me share a little story with you.
MEGABOX COEX is more than just a cinema for me. It has been part of my life since it first opened in 2000. Yeah, that long ago. Even now, after all these years, I still think the same thing. It was the best, it is the best, and it will always be the best cinema I have ever known.
I have shared so many great moments here with friends, family, and people I care about. The place holds memories. You know those spots that feel special the moment you walk in? This is that for me.
The location is convenient, and now there are twenty screens. That means whether you are after the latest blockbuster or something a bit more indie, they have you covered. And it is not just about the movies. The whole experience, from buying tickets to the atmosphere inside, is smooth and enjoyable.
Pro tip, download the MEGABOX app and book your tickets in advance. It makes everything easier. If you prefer the old-school method, the kiosks work perfectly too.
So if you are in Seoul and love movies, make some time for MEGABOX COEX. Trust me, it is worth...
