All was well with this market, good merchandise, great variety, affordable prices and nice people. There is also a nice outdoor patio where you can sit and have coffee, beer or a snack. Unfortunately, we were expelled by the waiter from there, because we had with us a small dog in her bag. The justification was that, yeah, it is an outdoor place, but the ayuntamiento blah blah blah. It seems to me, that we are keeping the letter of the law and not the essence. The law mentions "places where food is prepared or sold", doesn't say anything for open spaces. Mind you, that there is an independent entrance to the patio via Provença street, where there are no shops at all... So the dogs can enter without compromising the hygienic regulations. I also add that there are more than 300 cafes and restaurants in the city allowing the dogs INSIDE. So either they are all breaking the law or the law can be interpreted with more...
Read moreThis seems to be a local market catering for local residents. Although a mere 5 minute walk from the world famous La Sagrada de La Familia, when we were there, there were no tourists except us. It's not huge. There are a few fishmongers, a few fruit and vegetable stands and several jamon sellers. You could get almost all ingredients for a nice dinner if you plan to cook at you B&B. There is also a Bonpreu chain supermarket in the same place for you to top up your carb and beverage shopping. The entrance to the market is a bit difficult to find though, we followed Google maps, and kept getting directed to the carpark. The Google maps photo were outdated. Please see uploaded photos. La màquina i els seus vagons. Disposat i decidit, enfila pel barri, fa sonar la campana a cada cruïlla, ens regala amb una bona passejada.
A la gent menuda i a d'altra més crescuda. A cada mirada ulls d'alegria per a compartir.
En arribar a la parada, patges i ajudants sempre atents a com ens he comportart, ens regalen caramels.
Un any més la gent del Mercat, en l'esforç per la feina ben feta del dia a dia, no s'ha oblidat pas de fer-nos compartir un bon somriure. ... ...
Un año más la gente del Mercado, en el esfuerzo del día a día, nos muestra su aprecio con un nuevo detalle.
