Read moreGenuinely one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in, and if anything, better than some budget chain hotels I've been to. The staff are extremely helpful, speak multiple languages, and can sort any issues or queries you might have including directions, booking taxis or talking on your behalf if you are unfamiliar with the language. Take a few minutes when you're in the lifts to look at all the facilities available - the luggage storage is all automatic, very fairly priced and very secure. The bar/terrace and rooftop are lovely, give you incredible views and are worth a visit. I stayed in a shared, all-female dorm room, and it was extremely clean, and spacious for what you pay for! Each bed has a small private light, which does not disturb others in the room, a single EU wall plug, and a single UK wall plug (so bring extension leads should you want to charge more than one device). The bed itself is very comfortable, and you get 1 pillow, 1 duvet and linens for free. Each person has a huge card-operated locker, which is secure and can comfortably fit lots of luggage! The room has the best blackout curtains I have ever seen, which means no outside disturbances and the window is sound-proofed so the rooms looking out onto the main road are very very quiet. There are coat hooks in the room too. Each shared room (I was in a room of 4 females), has an ensuite bathroom, which itself too is very spacious. There is a large shower, toilet, sink, hair straighteners and hair dryer provided, as well as a large mirror and small magnifying wall mirror too. There are coat hooks on the back of the door. Towels are not free, but only cost a few euros for your entire stay, but you can also bring your own. I read many reviews before I left about the shower - yes, it is on a 'timer' but literally not an issue. Great water pressure and instant hot water - temperature adjustable. I absolutely loved this place and is excellent for solo, first-time travellers or...
Read moreUsed for a week on a school trip. 42 kids on three floors; 5 staff. Efficient at directing to rooms. Good level of security. Room key only allows you to access the floor by lift that your room is on. There is a lock on the doors on the staircase to each floor only accessible by the room key. Of course kids get round this by use of mobile phone to meet the person at the door to open it. Undesirables would not be able to. Security to a kid who wants to do something is an inconvenience. Rooms are compact and bijou but time spent in them is minimal and they are designed for sleeping, washing/showering, toileting and dressing. Security in rooms is by personal locker. Windows only open enough to let air and noise in. Air conditioning works and is effective. If it doesn't, speak to the management immediately. Don't winge about it. Bathroom is functional, shower cubicle, sink and toilet. The loss of a star is the lethally slippery nature of the floor and shower tray; no bathroom mat so take a spare small towel to use. The hostel didn't provide us with soap/shower gel/ towels or a basin plug - take a universal one This would take a great cost to remedy. Food at breakfast is adequate without frills. Juice, hot beverages, cereal. We had an alternating bacon & scrambled egg, sausage and fried potatoes. Veggie options are available. Toast and conserves/honey are available. Fruit always available. Packed lunches were adequate and the small baguette was placed in a plastic container. Bottle of water, fruit and biccy. There's a 24/7 mercado 50m away which sells water, fresh empanadas, samosas and variety of low order goods. 150m away is a good quality sandwich shop. On site common room(which is the dining room), with TV, and little bar, which sells beer and soft drinks. For a hostel I found it comfortable and a 10 minute walk to nearest Metro station. If you don't expect the...
