This is the right place to visit if you are a nature sciencies enthusiast, you have curious children or you just like to learn more about the wonderful world we live in. It is located in a modern venue that is angular in design, with concrete, glass and metal as the predominant materials used. There goes maybe the only remark I would have in general - the immediate surrounding of the museum seems very empty, baren, with a lot of unpainted concrete surfaces. Having in mind what this museum is about, some plant and or animal life from the area (for example) that would be around the museum and just before its entrance would really add almost a personal touch to it. Museum itself has very nice mineral collection, fossils (replicas) etc. What is especially nice are the videos and interactive material that show in quite some detail things like: organisation of plant/animal cell, viruses, then composition of the Earth etc. To finish with - I like that they dedicated quite some effort to show minerals, plant and animal life coming from the region (Catalonia). Read moreIt worths the while visit if you have small kids. First of all, it’s close to a metro and tram station. The area is newly built so everything is in big scale: metro station, sidewalks, etc. Big entrance where you can leave your umbrella. Free entry for kids, as an adult I think I paid 2,5€ for the Permanent exposition. The tickets cost the same if you buy them online but no need to.
Space to leave your stuff on the first floor. Space to sit and eat (with vending machines or bringing your own food) on the first floor too. Bathrooms have small toilets for the little ones. Gift shop on the first floor.
The entrance has an impressive installation of the Earth. Then you see some paleontology and geology findings, then it’s the exposition of the animals, then the exposition of the fungus, precious stones, and some more. You’ll need 2 full hours for the Permanent collection.
Helpful stuff.
