My admissions experience with IE University's Madrid Campus for the Bachelor in Communications and Digital Media was extraordinarily unprofessional and frustrating. After my initial application for Fall 2024 was rejected, I reapplied clearly and separately for Fall 2025. Despite being two distinct academic cycles, IE incorrectly flagged my second application as a "duplicate" due to an alleged internal "technical error."
Between January 14th and February 5th, 2025, I reached out repeatedly, over five separate emails, to multiple admissions advisors, including Alba Ocampo and Diana Mohino, as well as general admissions contacts. Not a single reply was provided until I escalated the issue to IE's U.S. offices via phone in APRIL of 2025.
Only then did IE admit their mistake, vaguely citing “technical errors” while refusing to substantiate their claims about previously attempted communications. They consistently deflected responsibility, ignored requests for evidence of their alleged outreach attempts, and refused accountability for the months of neglect. Although they eventually refunded my application fee, it required constant pressure and escalation.
Notably, I was accepted seamlessly into 11 other prestigious universities in the U.S. and Europe, several of which offered competitive scholarships and had far stricter admissions standards. IE University was the only institution where my application process was mishandled so profoundly.
My advice to prospective students: proceed with caution. IE University's admissions department demonstrated severe administrative incompetence, a complete disregard for basic professional communication, and an unwillingness to accept clear accountability...
Read moreIE University markets itself as a modern, globally focused institution, but its handling of transfer applications tells a different story. The admissions process for transfer students is disorganized, lacks transparency, and often leaves applicants without clear guidance or communication. There are ongoing issues with delayed responses, lack of follow-up, and unclear procedures when it comes to submitting or updating documents. In some cases, internal miscommunication or system errors have caused confusion around application status without proper accountability or support from the admissions team. While first-year applicants may experience smoother processing, transfer students should be aware that IE’s systems and staff do not appear to be well-equipped to manage non-traditional application routes. Standard policies are not clearly communicated, and support can be difficult to access unless inquiries are repeatedly escalated.
A deep dive into Google reviews or Reddit forums like r/IE reveals that these are NOT isolated experiences. Applicants have been raising similar concerns for YEARS, while IE continues to claim improvements. Despite its outward branding, the university consistently falls short in professionalism and applicant care, especially for those coming from another university background. If you are considering transferring to IE, be prepared to stay proactive, keep detailed records of communication, and advocate for yourself throughout the process. While IE may offer a strong academic experience once enrolled, the admissions journey for transfer students is often needlessly complicated, frustrating, and...
Read moreFor those with kids about to go to college, the free and guided tour inside the IE University is worth it. This university is so diverse in its offerings and so advanced in its facilities in the Madrid Campus. Any parent will immediately understand why it is a good school that will become really great in the near future. Its campus in Segovia meanwhile is a totally different universe with its old Spanish buildings. My oldest son definitely is now convinced to go here for college.
The personnel of IE who assisted us were all very nice, knowledgeable and helpful in briefing us about the university. They made...
