This hostel is under new management as of 7 days ago, and this the first one star review I've ever written.
No door on the bathroom, so everyone can see you shower. Toilet smells. No hand soap.
The room I was assigned to was not the room I booked on booking.
The front desk staff are super rude and literally told me "I dont know what you want me to do!" when I brought problems to their attention, and when I pointed out that they were shouting at me, she said "I know I'm frustrated." When I communicated expectations about cleanliness and safety, she said "it's a hostel not a 5 star hotel." Every person I've interacted with who works here has been very rude.
The manager called me out for not wearing a mask when walking between my room and the bathroom, which only did because there is no hand soap in the room bathrooms. Then when I returned to the hostel tonight, the manager is sitting with other staff without a mask, and so are all the guests.
Currently there are about 100 kids of 15-16 years old occupying the hostel loudly and without concern for other guests. I was under the impression this was an adults only hostel.
My original room was dirty, pistachio nuts in my bed and used tissues and tea and food everywhere and alcohol bottles in the sink and bodily fluids in the shower.
DO NOT STAY HERE. After 4 years of full- time travel and over 1, 000 hostels, this one of the worst.
Notice that all the 5 star reviews are from 2 years ago and previous management. That was "Koisi Hostel" now is Room 007.
UPDATE: The manager confronted me about this review and instead of discussing the ways the hostel could improve, condescendingly tried to "explain to me what it means to be in a shared room" and tell me all the ways in which I "understand incorrectly." No hospitality or...
Read moreJust stayed there for 3 nights (Wednesday to Saturday). We had booked a room for two and when we got there (tired and wanting to have a shower and rest a while) we unfortunately had to wait for quite a while because the room wasn’t ready. To be fair we did get there at around 1pm and they say checkin starts at 3pm.
The ladies (3 very young French girls which we later found out were on a work experience programme) didn’t really speak Spanish or English and didn’t know what they were doing. This was frustrating, because, again, we were tired and our patience wasn’t at its best. It took a while but the lady in charge came and took over and did what needed to be done for us to check in. The rest of the staff we encountered were efficient and friendly (the young ladies were sweet but obviously learning, they shouldn’t have been left alone at all).
Pluses: great mattress and pillows, decent bathroom, clean and we had a small balcony. There were two large draws under the bunk bed for folded clothing etc, and two large lockers for our bags. The location is excellent.
Minuses: Noisy at night, lots of noise coming from the rooftop.
We would have appreciated some hooks (maybe on the door) with some hangers for clothes, coats etc .
Also some glasses in the bathroom and a soap dispenser to wash our hands and not have to open the shower for thatwould have been nice.
We weren’t told that the AC was controlled in the reception upon checkin, and it would have been nice to know in advance.
No fridge, no kitchen and the breakfast didn’t look very appealing (5€)).
We had to pay 2€ per person for luggage storage which I don’t understand personally as I have never been charged for this service anywhere before.
All in all the experience wasn’t bad but a lot could...
Read moreTo give credit where it's due, the building is clean and modern, and super well-located. The free towel was also a nice touch. I would have given 2.5 stars overall if Google allowed half stars.
However, there were a number of things about the place that were just really odd for a hostel. First off, the showers in our shared dorm was not in a cubicle or separate room, but in the actual bedroom. So you have to step directly out of the shower into the room, clothed or not, or else take your towel and clothes in the actual shower with you (there isn't a hook on the inside to keep them dry or anything). It's really not fun in a room with strangers.
Also the top bunks have no guard rail or raised ledge whatsoever next to the bed - you could roll straight off the (small single) mattress and fall 2m (view from the bed included in photos). As someone who moves in their sleep often, I was scared each night while trying to sleep. When someone on the bottom bunk checked out, I explained the issue asked the staff to swap into the bottom bunk, but was told I couldn't because the hostel was full (which given I was asking for a swap shouldn't have been an issue, and seemed more like they didn't want to accommodate it). So instead I had to sleep badly in fear of falling out of the bed for 4 nights.
And to add to it, when we checked out and had an evening flight, we were told we'd have to pay 3 euros each to leave our backpacks in the luggage room for the day - I've never experienced that in a hostel or hotel in my life ever! Wasn't a good way to end...
