Majestic City, also known as its abbreviation of "MC" is a shopping mall like the One Galle Face (OGF) and Colombo City Centre (CCC) which is situated in the heart of Colombo just like the other two! As I have gone to all these three shopping malls several times, I was able to recognize some unique features and if I am to compare those unlike OGF and CCC, MC has the largest food court in comparison and here, by large means a huge number of customers can be served at a time compared to the other two malls as over one to two hundred seating facilities are there. Food is in good quality and quite tasty and prices are a bit above average but not too expensive and at the same time the servings are quite adequate for the customer, means a normal ice cone is bigger than one from an average ice cream shop or a cart and this can be said to the food as well. However, I didn't find a lot of variants of food like, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, etc. There were fried rice, Nasi Goreng, noodles, bbq meat, sausages, coffees, fruit juice, coke and things like that! So basically, from a 1000 rupee a one can eat a good meal with a drink for a change from an everyday meal. (A nasi goreng is about 650 rupees and quite delicious than those from other shops because you get fried mushrooms or chopsuey, a bullseye egg, a spoon full of fantastic chilli-paste, a piece of chilli chicken or bbq chicken and some delicious sauce and this is better than any nasi goreng I have eaten🤷‍♂️). The place also has a handwashing area and washrooms.

Apart from the food there's a Cargills food city at the ground floor, directly infront of the main entrance and 2 Commercial Bank ATMs are there just right to the main entrance as the first thing you will find. To the just left is a KFC you can even use to exit the shopping mall. The entrance to the shopping mall has a metal screening machine but you can take your bags inside if you carry a bag or a handbag. Yesterday (14th of March, 2022) at the exit of the MC (which is also the main entrance), I noticed some old hoboes verbally harassing women, especially white foreign girls and women and I think the shopping mall security should be more aware on this and clear out their entrance from such a disgrace (This is also the reason for me not giving 5 stars!).

Finally, I felt like this is a shopping mall which prioritizes accessories and devices compared to other 2 malls as there are many shops of fanciful and exotic accessories and devices like PlayStation latest versions and even Binoculars and Telescopes🤷‍♂️

Overall, it's a good place to find many things you need in just one place! Prices may be high but the...

The most popular shopping mall in Colombo. Ample parking space except during lunchtime, weekends and movie times. It's nice to just visit it these days because the seasonal decor is outstanding this time, especially at night.

A (almost) thorough security check is carried out at the entrance of the parking lot and security guards and ladies (security ladies ahem) stationed at all entrances which is a good thing.

Parking area is at 2 levels and is usually kept clean and well organized. The security personnel in these areas will assist you with the parking.

There are lifts, stairs and escalators to get you to where you want to go and plenty of shops to shop in.

This mall has been there for decades and some stores inside have been there from the very start which brings an air of nostalgia (if you're at that certain age).

It's a place to shop, window shop, just walk around, hold hands talk for hours, escape your parents and pass the time in a good manner, eat, drink, chatter, loiter, exercise (when the elevators and escalators are out of order), bank , trade or visit the washroom (for a small fee).

Some items are exclusive to Majestic City and people from all over the island visits this place at least once in their lives.

Some of the stores that have been there for decades seems obsolete with the same old stuff and the same old staff with no customers. But they're still open and the staff looks lively, teaching us a lesson that it's never the time to give up (or give in).

The aisles are huge and spacious. Aisles, corridors, steps and waiting areas are kept clean and well maintained. The washrooms are usually clean but definitely need upgrades and refurbishing. The nominal fee they charge is quite OK as long as the washroom is visitable(is that a real word? Oh well).

The 4th and 5th floors hold the cinemas and the ones on the 5th are outdated, dirty and technically underwhelming.

Parking rates are charged hourly and quite reasonable. The general, security and maintenance staff are usually very friendly and helpful. Most store staff members are friendly and helpful too.

A mall for many and a place of memories evolved from an old cinema theater and bare land to what it is now, filled with shoppers, young...

Majestic City is a seven-storey commercial and shopping complex which is located in Bambalapitiya, Sri Lanka, near the Bambalapitiya Railway Station. C.T. Land Development PLC is the owning company of Majestic City. The late Mr. Albert A. Page is the founder chairman of the complex. The "Majestic City" in operation will be a unique concept in Sri Lanka providing diverse facilities of a high standard under a single roof for the people. Stage I involves the construction of a centrally air-conditioned shopping complex consisting of 96 shops, a supermarket, a bank, a restaurant, fast food outlets, offices, apartments and a basement car park. The complex will be serviced by escalators and elevators, with ample stairway and walkway arrangements including an atrium which has been designed in such a manner as to provide a panoramic view of the upper floors of the building to make shopping a pleasure. The Atrium area would be utilized as an arcade with the atmosphere of a continental type sidewalk cafe with shops selling fast foods, confectionaries and cigarettes. It will also be used as a venue to stage variety entertainment shows, exhibitions and trade promotion displays. The total rentable floor area is 60,064 square feet excluding the basement car park covering a floor area of 32,179 square feet. The costs of Stage I was to be financed by equity of Rs. 75 Million and the balance by debt capital. Although 3 Million shares of Rs. 10 each were offered to the General Public for subscription by Prospectus, the response from the public and institutional segment of the capital market was not up to expectation. Therefore, Ceylon Theatres Limited as the main promoter of the company along with their nominees had to take up the unsubscribed shares. The funding support given at this time by Peoples Bank was invaluable.

I recently had a day out at Majestic City, and it was such a cool experience. This place has a vibe that's just right for us younger folks. I was amazed by the variety of shops – from trendy clothes to the latest gadgets, they've got everything. It's like a one-stop shop for everything fashionable. The food court is a real highlight. Whether you're craving a quick snack or a sit-down meal, there's plenty to choose from. I had some amazing local dishes there, and the prices were reasonable, too. One thing I love about Majestic City is the bustling atmosphere. It's not just about shopping; people are there to meet up, hang out, and enjoy the day. Plus, it's super easy to get around the mall, and the staff are friendly and helpful. In short, Majestic City is more than just a shopping centre. It's a great place to catch up with friends, try new foods, and, of course, update your wardrobe. Every visit has something unique to offer, and I can't wait for my next trip there.
