Wonderful museum. With photos, models, artifacts, and dioramas, it tells the story of the history of immigration from Sweden to the US (primarily) in the late 1800 to early 1900s. Don't miss the story of Dagmar Bryhl, Titanic survivor, whose story was the inspiration for the James Cameron movie Titanic (2nd floor). Admission charged.

Le musée de l'émigration est très intéressant à faire quand vous êtes à Goteborg. Il s'agit de la vague de migrants suédois partis pour les États-Unis aux 19ème et 20ème siècles. Vivez l'expérience d'un migrant dans la cale d'un bateau jusqu'à son arrivée à Ellis Island. Au début de la visite, vous serez accompagnés par un guide qui vous donnera des éléments clés pour comprendre cet événement historique et l'impact sur la politique suédoise au début du 20ème siècle. La visite se déroule exclusivement en suédois et en anglais. Prévoyez de l'argent en espèce pour payer votre entrée (pas de possibilité d'utiliser de CB). Accès facile par tramway.

Ett fantastiskt trevligt litet museum ovan Casino Cosmopol. Här finns allt om emigrationen som ägde rum nåt stenkast ifrån museet. Ständiga utställningar kryddar den redan intressanta grundmenyn, nu har man byggt en modell av en emigrantbåt. Låt Roger berätta under ett av hans erkänt intressanta föredrag, så går ni därifrån åtskilligt klokare, kanske med tanken att svenskar också varit invandrare. Det ger perspektiv.

Very interesting place, particularly as I have just read The Emigrants (utvandrarna) by Vilhelm Moberg for my Swedish course.
