In August 2022, my mother and I arrived for our lunch reservation. We scheduled to arrive at 2 but due to traffic at the border, we got there at 14:25, at the same time as a couple. They were seated and given a menu, while we were told the kitchen closed at 14:30. We said we understood, and a simple salad was all we’d want. A waiter guided us to a lovely table, and said he’d talk to the chef. Meanwhile, the couple next to us was studying their menu. To our surprise, another waiter arrived at our table to tell us we couldn’t order anything, implying we had to leave (!). The couple next to us was ordering. Instead of getting mad, we repeated we’d be happy with just a salad and some bread. The waiter left, and a third one returned with a bread basket- while the couple next to us got two nice looking salads served. We arrived before the kitchen closed, immediately told them what we wanted, and ended up with a breadbasket. One can’t help but wonder if this difference in treatment was due to the fact that we are 2 women, and that we stayed -maybe too- polite? If we’d been there at/after 14:30, we’d have nothing but acceptance that the kitchen would indeed be closed, and we would’ve happily devoured the (nice!) breadbasket. Yet the different treatment stuck out, we’d never felt treated as an ‘inconvenience’ before, by several of the servers. My mother has been coming here yearly since 2006 and is always looking forward to it. She had nothing but good experiences in the past, yet now left with a sour taste and doubt whether we’ll continue this ‘tradition’. 2 stars: for the location and decorum, and for the one kind waiter who felt for us and offered to take a photo of us.

This restaurant is owned by Fairmont hotel. The service makes us feel welcome. They also tried to accommodate us the seat close to the lake. We ordered the pan fried cod, asparagus and truffle risottos. The pan fried cod is hands down the best cod I ever had, it was so juicy, tender to an extend that it tasted like it was steamed. The truffle risottos were also very good. The lake view and vibes are also fantastic, the price is at the high side but I think it is commensurate with other hotel restaurants but the food is good.

This restaurant is on the edge of 5 stars. View is like a storybook. The service during the jazz festival was a bit chaotic but we enjoyed our burrata appetizer which was beautifully plated and fresh. The fish was fresh and we sampled a glass of Swiss wine which I found a bit too watery and light. You are there for the view, period. Pretty delicious food and friendly faces is icing on the cake. We posed for a few shots of the magical background.

Dined here tonight. Have to say it is 200% better than Christian Tetedoie restaurant in Lyon. We dined in Tetedoie restaurant last nite. Food shockingly bad. La terrasse restaurant food excellent. We r from Ireland . We booked Tetedoie restaurant before we left ireland , so so so so disappointed. Arrived in Montreux tonight , so so lucky to get cancellation in La Terrasse , food was amazing, we didn’t have stater tonight only main course and dessert, I chose fish / cod for main course my husband had lamb, DEVINE, absolutely thrilled on BOTH, a HUGE thanks to THOMAS VITOLIE, CHEF in LA TERRASE , a FANTASTIC meal that I would give FOOD AND STAFF 6 STARS if possible especially AGETA from VEVEY AND CHEF THOMAS VITOLIE, BLOWN away by our...

I came in hoping to enjoy a quick drink at the viewpoint before my dinner reservation elsewhere. The place was completely empty, yet the staff member rudely told me the area was only for dinner starting at 6pm—no exceptions, no flexibility.

I explained I’d be gone by 6:30, but her tone was dismissive and unnecessarily condescending. When my husband arrived, she added, “As I explained to your madame,” which was even more rude and patronizing.

The view might be nice, but the service was awful. Hospitality matters—I...
