The Montreux Jazz Café at the Fairmont Hotel, fell far short of expectations during our recent afternoon tea experience. Arriving just after hotel brunch hours, we opted for the café’s tea tower—a decision we soon regretted. The service was abysmal: after an astonishing 45-minute wait, the tower finally arrived, only to reveal stale sandwiches that seemed like leftovers and pastries that were equally disappointing. The entire spread lacked freshness and flavor, making it nearly inedible.
To add to the disappointment, the service was nonexistent. Not a single staff member checked in to take additional orders or inquire if everything was satisfactory. We felt completely abandoned, which only worsened the already dismal experience.
For a hotel of Fairmont’s caliber, this was nothing short of a disgrace. The café’s reliance on the Fairmont brand, while failing to deliver even a modicum of quality, has certainly deterred us from returning—not only to the café but to the hotel itself. What could have been a relaxing afternoon turned into a major disappointment, one that we will...
Read moreThe overall experience was very disappointing. Our table for two was right by the front door and hostess stand despite having reservations and being one of the first diners there. . The staff would congregate there and talk so it was loud talking near us. There also was a table in the middle of the restaurant with 3 children. Two of which were banging on their plates and table with their utensils and talking very loudly. Many other diners would glare that way too. Then they let them get up and wonder around the restaurant talking loudly again.(more like yelling) The parents nor the staff did anything about it. Even before all of this the music was so low you could barely hear it. I really was hoping to hear some jazz music as we ate. The waiter had no problem coming to the table several times to ask if the food tasted good but could not be found when we wanted to check out. The food was average at best and very pricey. But on the upside it did lead us to Funky Claude’s which was a completely different experience and would highly recommend...
Read moreStay away. We have all been there. You are seated and watch every table around you get their meal. Even the people who get their meal before you are wondering where your food is !! Except this place is so disorganized, that no one acknowledges that it has been over an hour and fifteen minutes, and they haven't even asked if you want more water. No one has even acknowledged that you are there. When I did finally take occasion to get up and speak to ' someone', I did ask a server - is it because I only speak English. And she said 'yes'. She fully understood my question, but she also understood the bias that we were exposed to in this restaurant. I have travelled a great deal, and I have never felt so discriminated against because 'I don't speak the language'. The only hope is that the Hotel Fairmont Le Montreux Palace Duty Manager, Nathan demonstrated excellent leadership skills when speaking with me about this poor service. Unfortunately that does not translate to the Montreux Jazz Cafe staff. They...
