SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY From mother, physician, business owner, rock climber, and sincerely care.
Short story: Some workers are friendly but not training guests well enough and could lead to serious harm.
Long story: My husband and two kids had a 5 star experience in June 20,2023. All went on kids trail and husband was given a harness with a pulley system. My 7 year old daughter had issues but was helped through by husband and two wonderful staff ( older man with beard and younger man). Thank you.
They enjoyed so much that we chose to return and I wanted to join them ( return customers are always a great sign).
Today June 22,2023 two young friendly staff a male and female signed us and I specifically said I had never done this and would like full training. Husband was given non- pulley harness and he said he was given a different harness last time and would like that one. The young man kind of chuckled and said it wasn’t needed but since my husband wanted it he gave it to him. Since the young lady gave me a harness without pulley I assumed I was fine. The three kids trail were very fun and to our surprise my 7 year old excelled and loved it this time around.
Problem at bonus zip lines are steeper and therefore quicker. Since my husband was able to shorten his rope he could slow down appropriately. My rope was too long with my weight and I could not slow down. I very hardly ran into all three wooden landing platforms. Once into cushion area second directly into wood and third my legs. The second break will cause bruising and at that velocity and angle with my weight could have broke bones or caused internal injury.
Mistakes happen- when we were done I nicely approached the young man who had two adults and child being put on to kids trail and mentioned what happened to me and I think the pulley system is a better and safer harness for adults even on kids path so they can control speed. Though he was kind earlier cut me off saying “ they will be fine” and “ it’s his job to educate the customers”. I pointed out I really got hurt and was not trained and he said “ well sometimes it’s rough and tumble”. Being nice is great quality in staff but arrogance is not. I have seen patients die of bleeding out because their internal organ was damaged or even a broken bone could surely ruin someone’s holiday.
If I was advised to hike in sandals and sprained/ broke an ankle. It would not be appropriate to say oh well sometimes it’s rough?!? It would have been advised to wear the appropriate gear. Safety o it comes with appropriate gear and training b
on the way out a large group was in practice and three different customers had their hands in-front of the metal clasp attached to the line ( we had been trained not to do this) but no one was correcting/ teaching this group. Again serious injury risk.
** I am not trying to lower your review score. This is a great activity in beautiful scenery. If the owner of the business can reply he will retrain any staff who need it and discuss why the pulley harness is safer for customers of a certain height I will happily change my review to 5 stars which my husband and kids experienced on their...
Read moreMy boys absolutely love this place!!! Must go if you are visiting Zermatt with kids or teenagers!
My family first visited in 2019 when my boys were 5 and 7 years old, and we lived in Zurich. We only spend one day at the park and they fell in love. After we moved away from Switzerland, Forest Fun Park is wha they missed the most!
After 6 years, we revisited the Park from the U.S. This time. We spend three days at the park! My boys could not get enough of the expanded courses with long zip lines and challenging obstacles. They had so much fun that they convinced both mom and dad to join them. It’s one of the most memorable activities we did as a full family in Zermatt. More than fun itself, it also help them built confidence and overcome fear of heights.
The secret to this park is their innovative harness system that allows the kids to operate all obstacles & course independently. Unlike other zip line courses with an expert secures your harness and follows you through every obstacle course, this innovative system allows continuous self operation at your own speed with the confidence of safety, even for a 5 year old!
The staff working there are amazing. They are experienced adventurers and world travelers that are super friendly. Thank you all for giving my boys the experience of their lives. I can confidently say: we...
Read moreThe park was awesome! There were different levels, some more challenging and some less so. The courses were well designed, built right within the forest and over the gorgeous rivers. It was exciting, but safe and so amazing to be doing the course in the shadow of the Matterhorn, in a beautiful forest, and over flowing rivers. It was great for kids and adults of all ages. The facilities were very clean, and the staff were all kind and helpful. There's also a little mini playpark for younger kids. My 15, 11 yo , husband and I all did the same routes, and loved it. It was especially fun for my 11 yo to do the zip lines because she often is below the weight limit on zip lines in the US. No weight minimums at forest fun park. We had so much fun we went two days in a row. Amazing, fun, exhilarating experience for our family. Highly...
