I have mixed feelings about his place. The location was near our apartment so it was convenient for us to grab a bite to eat or get a drink. The pizza was quite good and the view of the Matterhorn, especially from the patio, is perfect.
We had 3 staff members who were wonderful - friendly, efficient and welcoming. However, the first staff member we encountered was incredibly rude and unhelpful and made us feel like we were bothering her. There was no obvious place to check in to ask about a table so I finally caught the attention of an older server with blonde hair and I asked her if they had any tables available. She said no and she started to walk away. I followed her and asked if we could wait and she said it would be at least half an hour. Fine with us but I asked where we could wait and did she want to take our name? She told us to wait outside. In the rain. Didn't take our name either. After a while, I saw people leaving so I went back in and asked if there was a table for us. Granted it wasn't the full 30 minutes later, but several people had left and I saw empty tables so I thought it was a reasonable ask. She was clearly irritated with my question and she shrugged her shoulders and with a scowl on her face, said "no". Again, she walked away. We were finally seated and had good service from other servers, thankfully Ms. Grumpy Pants didn't serve us. Why so miserable? Maybe it was just a bad night for her. Nope. We tried again on our last night and she was exactly the same. Miserable and unfriendly. She told my husband very rudely that if we didn't have a reservation, they didn't have a table for us. She is not good for business and should learn how to treat customers with a little kindness. We left and went to a lovely Italian place on the main drag, Osteria Bella Italia. The food there was amazing and the staff and who I presume to be the owner were all lovely and welcoming. We felt like we were being welcomed...
Read moreEnormous pizza at 44F, which is cheaper than 2 normal size pizzas and approximately the same area as 3 normal pizzas!! Super value for money! If you go for the family size pizza, you can choose ANY flavour and it's still 44F.
Onto the pizza: totally fresh ingredients, cooked in the wood oven. Wonderful flavours. The broccoli was cooked to perfection, not overdone nor underdone, which is hard to achieve, and the egg yolk creamy and golden and still runny. Yum!
The service: marvellous. They speak German, English and Italian. Friendly and helpful. One of the waiters only really spoke Italian but was so funny and charming that he made up for what he lacked in language knowledge, and I learnt some Italian! . But the main waiting staff are multilingual.
They also have a salad buffet that we didn't try, but saw, that looked good, with a variety of about 8-10 ingredients, you fill your plate as you like.
Highly recommended place with direct views of the Matterhorn and surrounding hills and an excellent terrace and a...
