Tamsui Customs Officers' Residence — Attraction in New Taipei

「小白宮」（前身為清朝淡水關稅務司官邸），位於新北市淡水區，是一座歷史悠久的西式建築，因外牆以白色為主色調而得名。建築年間為19世紀末。小白宮是淡水重要的文化景點之一，見證台灣在清朝後期與西方列強互動的歷史。不僅是淡水的重要歷史遺跡也成為遊客了解當地歷史文化的重要場所。

小白宮建於1870年代末，由清朝政府興建，最初作為海關稅務司的官邸使用。日治時期小白宮成為淡水稅關的宿舍，並在此後繼續被使用。二戰後國民政府接管小白宮並作為政府機構和宿舍使用，直到後來被改為展示館，對外開放參觀。

小白宮的建築風格融合了古典西方建築元素白色的外牆、圓拱長廊和紅磚基座是其主要特色。建築以歐洲殖民地風格為主，設計注重通風和採光，適應淡水的濕熱氣候。這座優雅的白色建築，不僅展現了當時的建築美學，反映當年淡水作為國際港口的繁榮景象

"The Little White House" (formerly the official residence of the Customs Officer of Tamsui during the Qing Dynasty) is located in Tamsui District, New Taipei City. Built in the late 1870s by the Qing government, the Little White House initially served as the residence of the Customs Officer. During the Japanese colonial period, it became the residence for customs officials and continued to be used in this capacity. After World War II, the Nationalist government took over the building, using it as a government office and residence until it was later converted into a museum and opened to the public.

The architectural style of the Little White House combines classical Western elements; its white walls, arched corridors, and red brick foundation are its main features. Not much historical information is available at the site. You go there, and it's just a mostly empty old building that's been repainted. They also have decorative wallpaper on some walls with no relevance to the history of the building. It just seems like wallpaper there for Instagram photos.

Without the historical information, you can just walk around the building for 3 minutes and there'd be nothing left to do or see.

They should do something similar to what they did with the San Domingo Fort and place furniture inside the building to recreate how it was when it was still an...

We visited during the Halloween time with some timely festive decorations. Good for children to enjoy the Halloween atmosphere a bit. The historical heritage is so elegant itself with no problem. Displaying exhibition can be improved or add up other special topics to enrich this historical site.

Free admission for New Taipei City residents with IDs though I forgot to bring mine. Spending $80 NTD for the admission is not pricey, either. However, driving and parking is a problem around. Parking in the private-owned parking lot costs...
