National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute Taipei Branch — Attraction in Taipei

The Taipei branch of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute is a very interesting place to visit. The first floor accommodates artistic and attractive handicrafts which you may want to own if their prices are lower. Via the circular stairs, you may walk up to the second floor. There are studios where you may meet and learn from the designers of the artifacts. You may continue your trip to higher floors, and, at the fifth floor, you may actually go outside the building and walk around the building on a balcony trail. Free admission. Current exhibition is “When Children’s Art Meets Outsider Art.”

We were unable to find any kind of gift shop and staff was confused when we asked. Access to second floor is closed, so maybe it is no longer in operation or we weren’t asking the right questions.

Criminally underrated free museum highlighting the amazing crafts of Taiwan. The works displayed were an amazing display of skill and aesthetics that definitely crosses language barriers.

And for people who can speak Chinese, the people there are very enthusiastic in explaining things and giving as much background as desired. Would 100% visit again!

We did run into staff who spoke some English there too!
