If you're looking for a decent hotel in the area, this one might fit the bill. The room itself is comfortable and service is adequate, but there are a few downsides that can make for a less-than-ideal stay.
One of the biggest issues is the hygiene of the room. While it's generally clean, there are some areas where stray hairs from previous guests can be found. This can be a major turnoff for some travelers, and it's something that the hotel should work on improving.
Another issue is the lack of security when it comes to the keycard system. When you return to your room, the receptionist doesn't check your identity or ask for any identification documents, which can be a cause for concern for solo travelers. It's not clear if anyone else could take your keycard or even stay in your room without your knowledge, which can be a major safety issue.
In addition, the walls in the hotel are quite thin, which means that you can hear a lot of noise from neighboring rooms. This can be particularly frustrating if you're trying to sleep and someone next door is brushing their teeth or taking a shower at 3am. The noise from the water pipes can also be quite loud, making for a less-than-peaceful stay.
Finally, the breakfast selection is quite limited, which can be disappointing for travelers who are looking forward to a hearty meal in the morning.
Overall, while this hotel might be adequate for some travelers, there are definitely some downsides that can make for an exhausting stay. The lack of hygiene, security, and soundproofing can all be major issues, and it's important to keep these in mind when deciding where to stay during...
Read moreI recently stayed at Rich Garden Hotel in Ximen, Taipei, from January 8-14, 2025, and overall, it was a good experience. For a 3-star hotel, it ticks a lot of boxes, especially if you’re looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay.
The location is definitely its strongest point—just a 7-minute walk to Ximen Station, which makes exploring Taipei super easy. There are also a few tourist spots nearby, so you won’t have to travel far for some sightseeing.
The staff, while a bit timid, were always ready to help when needed. Most of them could speak English well enough, so communication wasn’t an issue. I appreciated that they were attentive and quick to respond to requests.
Our room was cleaned daily, and the toiletries were replaced regularly, which I found really convenient. It’s nice to come back to a fresh and tidy space after a long day of exploring. The free breakfast was a good deal—it’s not a huge spread, but the food was decent and filling, just enough to start the day right.
The building itself is a bit old, and the lighting could definitely be improved. Both the hallway and the rooms could use brighter lights to create a better atmosphere. While there weren’t any special amenities, the basics were covered, and for the price, I can’t complain too much.
Overall, I’d rate my stay an 82 out of 100. The awesome location, friendly staff, and reliable breakfast made my stay enjoyable. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Ximen with easy access to public transportation and a clean, comfortable room, Rich Garden Hotel is worth considering. It’s not perfect, but it does a solid job for a...
