This was a deeply moving experience and a powerful testament to the struggles of the Taiwanese people and nation. As someone only aware of the 228 Incident and the White Terror as a traumatic event in history, this museum was an insightful and invaluable provider of context, as well as testimony from victims and their families.
I found it genuinely heartbreaking to read about the experiences of those swept up in the oppression. On the whole, this museum is a critical reminder of the struggle between good and evil not as equal, natural values that balance themselves, but defined by human beings and their choices. Read more臺北二二八紀念館前身為「臺北放送局」。 西元一九三〇年臺灣總督府交通局遞信部為發展臺灣的廣播事業,於現址成立臺北放送局。 西元一九三一年臺灣放送協會成立,廣播業務即移交該協會經營。 西元一九四五年國民政府接收後,改為臺灣廣播公司。 西元一九四七年二二八事件發生,當時的廣播電台扮演著黨政軍各界人士宣傳政令,和民眾代表報告事件處理近況的重要角色。 西元一九四九年國民政府撤退來臺灣,改為中國廣播公司。 西元一九七二年中廣新建廳舍完成,交還臺北市政府,成為臺北市政府公園路燈管理處辦公廳舍。 西元一九九六年市府基於這棟建築物在二二八事件中的重要地位與歷史意義,選定作為臺北二二八紀念館的館址。 The Taipei February 28th Memorial Hall was formerly known as the "Taipei Broadcasting Bureau." In 1930, the Communication Department of the Transportation Bureau of the Governor's Office in Taiwan established the Taipei Broadcasting Bureau at its current location to develop Taiwan's broadcasting industry. The Taiwan Broadcasting Association was established in 1931, and the broadcasting business was transferred to the association. After being taken over by the National Government in 1945, it was changed to Taiwan Broadcasting Corporation. When the February 28th incident occurred in 1947, the radio station at that time played an important role in propagating government orders by people from all walks of life in the party, government, and military, and reporting on the status of the incident. In 1949, the National Government retreated to Taiwan and was changed to the China Broadcasting Corporation. In 1972, the new building of China Guangdong was completed and returned to the Taipei City Government to become the office building of the Taipei City Government Park Street Light Management Office.
