EmQuartier Bangkok opened in March 2015, and is part of The Mall Group’s multi-billion-baht ‘EM District’ project to transform Phrom Phong into one of the biggest retail hubs of the city. You may have already heard of or visited the popular Emporium Shopping Mall – the new EmQuartier mall stands tall on the opposite side of Sukhumvit Road. Expect to find a long list of designer brands at the new EmQuartier Bangkok, as well as a distinctly futuristic design with dozens of restaurants, offices, event halls and a cool atrium garden – complete with a waterfall. There’s also direct access from Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain and a link to the original Emporium mall across the road.
Shopping options at EmQuartier definitely lean towards the more luxury side of Bangkok’s booming mall scene, with designers like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Jimmy Choo, Valentino and Fendi all opening up on the ground or second floor spaces. However, as you head up to the higher levels, expect a mix or more affordable high street brands such as Zara, Uniqlo, H&M, Gap and Super Dry, as well as a good selection of homegrown brands, including Fly Now, Greyhound, Kloset and Soda. There’re a whopping 400 labels in total over 4,000 square metres of floor space. The design of EmQuartier Bangkok is nothing short of impressive, with giant glass panels fronting the mall and its sweeping futuristic floors enclosing a cool outside concourse space. There’s also plenty of grass, plants and trees added to each level; a much needed dose of greenery in the dense concrete jungle that is Sukhumvit Road, and also fitting-in nicely with the nearby Benjasiri Park.
The mall is split up into three different zones, one of which is actually in a separate building connected by several walkways. These include ‘The Glass Quartier’, ‘The Helix Quartier’ (where you'll find almost 50 restaurants by heading up an impressive spiral walkway) and ‘The Waterfall Quartier’, which, true to its name, is fronted by a modestly-sized waterfall in a pretty cool central atrium area – which is already proving EmQuartier’s most popular selfie spot. You can read more about the impressive 'Helix Quarter' here - Bangkok's new 'dining extravaganza'. EmQuartier Bangkok joins the recently renovated Emporium mall (originally opened in 1997), and will be the second in a trio of malls at the site, with the additional ‘EmSphere’ set to be the third and final venue as part of the EM District project. True to its name, the Emsphere will take on a distinct spherical design with a giant glass roof and mostly luxury stores inside. Once completed in 2016, the entire site will cover 600,000 square metres of downtown Bangkok and offer over 1,000 international local and international retail stores. Read moreStepping into EmQuartier for the first time was a dazzling experience. Easily accessible from the Phrom Phong BTS Station via a convenient skywalk, this luxury mall immediately captivated me with its sleek, modern design and vibrant atmosphere.
As soon as I entered, I was struck by the sheer variety of shops and the upscale ambiance. EmQuartier is truly a shopper’s paradise, offering a curated selection of high-end fashion brands, exquisite dining options, and unique specialty stores. Each level seemed to unveil a new layer of sophistication and excitement.
One of the standout features for me was the Gourmet Market. This sprawling, high-end supermarket offers an incredible selection of fresh produce, international delicacies, and artisanal products. Walking through its aisles was a sensory delight, with beautifully arranged displays of vibrant fruits, gourmet cheeses, and freshly baked goods. It’s the perfect place to find premium ingredients for any culinary adventure.
Another gem was the flagship store of Uniqlo, where I found an impressive range of versatile, high-quality clothing that blends style and comfort effortlessly. The Helix Quartier, a spiraling section of the mall dedicated to gourmet dining, was another highlight. With its breathtaking vertical garden and an array of international cuisines, it’s a feast for both the eyes and the palate. I treated myself to some exquisite Japanese dishes at Sushi Hiro, where the fresh sashimi and expertly crafted rolls left a lasting impression.
For tech enthusiasts, iStudio by Copperwired is a must-visit. This sleek, well-stocked store offers the latest Apple products and accessories, with knowledgeable staff ready to assist. It’s a haven for anyone looking to explore cutting-edge technology in a stylish setting.
EmQuartier also hosts a stunning selection of beauty and skincare shops. I was particularly drawn to Sephora, where the extensive range of cosmetics and skincare products from top brands made it a beauty lover’s dream come true. The staff were incredibly helpful, offering personalized recommendations that made my shopping experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, EmQuartier is more than just a shopping mall; it’s a lifestyle destination. Its easy accessibility from the Phrom Phong BTS Station, combined with a diverse array of shops, gourmet dining options, and luxurious ambiance, make it a must-visit spot in Bangkok. Read moreThis mall has the Best location. Its in & out design is indescribably amazing. Every corner has different concept so artistic so extravagant. Not to mention about hygiene, it is super clean. I would say it smells good everywhere the scent that they use is so good. Also, the BTS station is right there at the mall on first floor so you can easily access to other places and all other transportation from that point.
The ambience in there make you feel like you’re living in future city alongside nature. One building connected to another on both sides of the streets. Entrance/exit are connected by open space bridges and conceptual sliding doors. Hundreds of shops in there most are high end brand products. A lot of coffee shops like Arabica, Kitsune, Starbucks, Dean&deluca, a lot more on almost every floors with different view, are those go-to places where you can chill out, relax, and sip on to your coffee.
Further, I love how they positions type of store, shops, and restaurants on each floor. All floor has cool architecture design. And mostly 1-3 floors are high end brands, ground floor are supermarket, cosmetic, and a few high end brands with different dine out options. Upper floor from 4 and above has brand like Uniqlo, H&M, Zara, etc and also has kid entertainment, store, and other kids related shops. Countless things in there, it would take you 2-3 days maybe just to tour around Emquartier
I have amazing experiences at this shopping mall, my 3 nights stay at IBIS sukhumvit 24 which was 5 mins walk from the mall, I didn’t get bored going to that mall everyday as there are so many things to explore and the ambience that soothe my soul. For me, this is the very best...
