Herbal Ground- A hidden gem, unspoilt and charming, in a city of many self-proclaimed spas.
I hope this place remains below the radar for as long as possible! I visited this spa in October 2024. now it’s Jan 2025 and I’m still thinking about it! I am a Singaporean traveller who has been to many spas all over Asia. But this one stands out. Because my experience with this spa tells me so much about the people running it. U can see their personal touch throughout the spa. From the cosy and warm decor , to the thoughtful range of services provided on their menu, their capable front of house customer service lady who is fluent in english, the wonderful attitude of their masseuse or therapist and lastly, their amazing line of self made shampoo and body wash products that has vastly improved my hair condition.
Have I mentioned I’m so surprised the Spa is not new? They aren’t new. They have been around for a couple of years. I think they opened in 2022. Why am I surprised ? Because Many spas here make a splashy entry into the market with alot of promise but they don’t follow through and sure enough they don’t last. In 1-2 years the spas look tired and they end up being tourist traps. I’ve unfortunately had to experience these traps before. And it’s time and money I will never get back 😅.
My instinct tells me herbal ground is here to stay. They have a loyal almost cult-like following of local clients and they also are beginning to attract the attention of visitors from overseas. They don’t deal in gimmicks. They don’t use influencers on TikTok to promote their spa. ( thank goodness for that! Because it’s never a good sign when there is heavy TikTok marketing. The spas usually have no substance) they stick to what they do best- which is hair and body treatments with a focus on their self made products like body scrubs and hair care. They clearly are invested in only using the best natural, made in Thailand ingredients for their products as can be seen in their many videos on their Instagram account. So I also sense a confidence and commitment to authenticity. I sense an earnest passion in their endeavour to make the customer experience a great one while also promoting natural ingredients to heal the body and soul. I predict I will return again to Bangkok and one of the reasons would be herbal ground 😍 Ps: Also I highly recommend their shampoo and hair mask. It has 100% revived my hair that was flat and lifeless to bouncy curls with lots of volume. After using herbal grounds shampoo and conditioner ( pls see photos) Everyone I meet...
Read moreWent in with expectations given the good reviews on Google, however my experience there fell short.
Massage is only done in one room that was partitioned into about 5 sections. I wasn’t expecting for that, but that can be understandable given the building wasn’t big to accommodate more rooms for massages. I had the herbal ground energy package which includes a 1-hour foot and shoulder massage, as well as a 1-hour aromatherapy oil massage.
It started with the aromatherapy oil massage which was good in terms of pressure applied and the strokes used. While it is not as comfortable having the massage done in a single room and I could hear other sounds of people next to me having massages, it was tolerable and I tried to enjoy it as much as I could.
When it came to the foot and shoulder massage, I did not expect it to just be done while lying down and the foot massage felt like a simple massage being done continuously along the same spot. The shoulder massage wasn’t comfortable at all as the masseuse wasn’t able to access the shoulder areas properly with my back on the bed. The shoulders were only massaged for a few minutes and the remaining time (around 5-10mins) was spent with a head massage which felt like I was having my hair messed up and was not comfortable at all.
It definitely wasn’t a pleasant experience at the end of the session and the quality of the massage overall did not match the price paid for this package. Having experienced good massages over the years and in different places, I would not recommend this place if you’re looking for a quality massage at that...
Read morePlease do not go to this spa, we have been to many spas in Bangkok and it’s the worst spa and massage shop ever…
We read through all the good comments and we did want to support small business. But this was so disappointing. We regretted wasting our 3 hours here.
We have made a booking for their signature program 1 month in advance. When we arrived, the room was not yet ready. When the room was ready, there was another customer in the room. It was very uncomfortable to stay in a room with another person as we had to take off our clothes and walk out for bath after the body scrub.
The massaging techniques were really poor. They were simply rubbing your skin and not massaging. For the hair massage, they dragged your hair and it was very painful. After the massage, my shoulders and scalp felt painful.
After the body scrub, I was being wrapped with a towel and was told to stand and wait in front of the bath room until my boyfriend finishes his bath.? I was so afraid that another customer in the room would see me! It was totally a shame.
What’s the point of filling out the pre-massage consultation form if your staff totally ignored it? My boyfriend had pointed out he had leg injury and had to avoid massage at the reception. But your staff kept putting scrub and massages his legs for several attempts, although we tried to stop her many times.
We spoke English. I wonder why your staff assumed we were Chinese and kept speaking...
