I originally booked since it looked like it recently changed ownership, Google lists it as another name. I assumed the property would have been renovated and had some higher standards than it is currently.
Hopefully, renovations will come soon. Unfortunately, that doesn't help my stay or any others in the near term. As i was leaving, they were in the process of setting up to create a video of the hotel.
If I were going to stay more than 2 days, I likely would have switched hotels.
The hotel looks nice on the outside and the common areas are nice, the gym was small, with limited and some older equipment but if it's just one or two people it is enough. The gym was kept cool, free water provided, and is located next to a small pool.
The workers are friendly, but the hotel rooms, equipment, electrical and fixtures are older or at least with the one bedroom suite i stayed in. The furniture is very old and abused, I don't think it has been fixed up or cleaned in many years or maybe a decade. It makes me think they were second or third hand.
The linens looked OK, and they did keep them white, but they had slight fading in spots and limited stains. The towels seemed like they've been there a long time, one was written on to identify what number it was, and most were fraying.
I did end up getting upgraded to a one bedroom suite with diamond status, I'm assuming this would be better than others, but hopefully, my room was worse than others.
The street that it's on is very busy during the day, so if you take an actual car, be ready for long waits, as for taxis most canceled on me to avoid these streets. At night it doesn't have a lot of traffic.
The internet doesn't seem bad, but with a VPN, it's been pretty slow.
During my 2nd and last night/morning, my internal fire alarm started going off, 2 or 3 loud sirens, around 2 or 3 am, and continued every hour or two until i left at 1 pm. Since it was the day of my flight with 20 hours of travel, that didn't help. I spoke with the front, and they were going to send a technician. Apparently, it was just my room. My power went out for an hour or less around the same time and may have been the cause.
They do offer a shuttle every 30 minutes, very nearby areas, and have a small food area for breakfast.
Lastly, when i got into the room, there were some flies, not many but enough to keep hitting me and such, maybe like 10, but it wasn't bad compared to...
Read moreFirst time at Novotel Suit Sukhumvit 39, and the air-con system didn't work properly. Our family (2 adults and a 4 years old kid) had to stay overnight with an uncomfortable room temperature (28°C)
8pm. We informed hotel staff that our room air-con can not lower temperature down. It shows 28°C all the time. At that time, hotel staff told us that air-con technicians went back home and needed us to wait as it was room temperature, and it would go down in a while.
10pm. We called the hotel staff again. And we have been informed to try to control the fan level.
12am. Room temp remains 28°C, and our family had to stay overnight as it was. And we were so tired with an uncomfortable room temperature. I called the hotel staff to inform the hotel manager about this issue.
10am. I called the hotel staff to check, and finally, air-con technicians came to fix this problem.
Apart from the air-con problem. There were also many little things that everyone should consider to stay at this hotel.
On the next day, the hotel finally offered our family to move to another room (upgraded one). Actually, as an accor member, upgraded is one of our benefit. Just to remind you that it was not easy for us, especially with a 4 years old kid to move room after all of our stuffs were already unpacked.
Hotel also offers extra welcome drinks and breakfast. However, these were not actually happening since hotel fornt seems to not know when we are asking.
Till we check out a hotel manager not shown up or called.
Anyway, staff here are friendly is the only...
Read moreWithout the unfortunate encounter with the Novotel driver, my extended stay here would have been almost nice.
To surprise, the driver displayed an unacceptable attitude, forgetting that he represented an international brand. Whenever I was the sole passenger, he drove recklessly, even veering onto the driveway of Emquarter and running over a curb. Such behaviour was unwarranted, as I never treated him badly, and always dealt with him through the front desk. Naturally, he improved his driving only when he noticed I was filming him on the way back. It was an extremely disappointing experience, as I rarely used the shuttle service except when necessary.
In the midst of my unpleasant experience, the driver subjected me to a 45-minute wait during the pickup process. It wasn't until I called the shuttle pickup service again that he finally arrived. This prolonged delay stemmed from the driver's knowledge that I was the sole returning guest, and he decided to delay the pickup according to his own preferences. In essence, it became clear that the service revolved solely around the driver's convenience.
It's essential that the hotel management invests in comprehensive staff training to ensure consistent, good-quality service, preventing such incidents in the future. Guests should expect equal and good treatment without having to request it, and this standard should extend to maintaining the pool's cleanliness - days after staying at the hotel learnt that that the pool wasn’t actually green, in fact is blue!
I raised my terrible experience with the front desk, requesting to speak with the manager, as I wanted to ensure that my feedback would lead to improved treatment in the future. However, the manager declined to meet with me.
It's worth noting that incidents like this also reflect poorly on Novotel's...
