An adventure worth every scratch, sweat, and slip! 🧗♀️🌴
We set out from East Railay Beach thinking it would be a chill walk to Phra Nang Beach… oh, how wrong we were—and how glad we didn’t turn back!
Depending on the tide, you might have to get your body wet just to reach the hidden entrance. And trust me—it’s easy to miss. We almost gave up… until we spotted a couple disappearing into the bushes. That’s when the real adventure began.
Fallen trees, slippery rocks, and narrow trails awaited us—but then, a sign appeared. A steep climb with a rope marked the start of something more serious. As we went up, we even passed a few rock climbers scaling the cliffs nearby. Yep, it felt like we accidentally joined an expedition. 😅
And just when we thought we’d seen it all… a ladder appeared. The final boss. It was my should-we-or-should-we-not moment. But guess what? We did it. 💪
And what we saw at the top? Totally worth it. I won’t spoil it—you have to experience it yourself.
🎒 Pro tips: Wear grippy shoes. Go during mid to low tide. Don’t be afraid to follow the adventurers ahead of you—sometimes that’s how you find the path.
✨ If you love nature, views, and a bit of wild with your beach trip—don’t miss...
Read moreI only found out about this place on the morning of my last, of two days at Railay.
The night before, whilst watching the sunset, I saw torchlight part way up on the big rock cliff. I was intrigued!
Looking on Google Maps, I saw the ‘Bat Cave’ pinned and did a Google search for it. It seemed like a great little adventure and doable in the short time that I had.
It took me about 1.5 hours, from my hotel by the pier at Railay East and back. That included stopping to take pictures, chatting with the climbers that I met and taking my trainers on and off. The latter was necessary as the tide was in and, it was a BIG tide. On the way back, I was waist deep! So progress along the beach was slow. In hindsight, it might have been possible to ‘rock hop’ on the boulders that border the beach. Alternatively, don’t do it at high tide!
On the way back I say some people descending the ‘path’ to the Lookout and the Lagoon. That looked like a great little adventure too! Sadly, I didn’t have the time to...
Read moreGreat trail, less exhausting and mentally challenging than the Lagoon Trail with a brilliant view at the top (spoilers in the pictures). Recommend a torch (head torch is best), phone torch will be okay but there are some ladders to climb in complete darkness so hands are best left free.
Directions: Travel down Monkey Path to Phra Nang Beach, walk all the way to the end with the Sea on your left. walk through a cleared path in the mangrove which will soon turn to a forest style area which opens up the path separates to the left, but you should follow forward and up a slight climb (45 degree angle) with a rope. hug the path to the left the path splits to a high and low path, take the high from this point it's self explanatory, follow ladders and enjoy your walk!
There is also a secret beach, but I'm not telling you where that is, otherwise it wouldn't...
