This review is to share a personal experience of you are like me, who have not had a hamam before. It’s a little lengthy but it maybe able to help someone who’d have loads of questions and wasn’t sure what to expect. It was my first experience to have a hamam, although having to have lived in Japan with experiences of using an onsen, I was still rather uncertain what to expect from this traditional hamam. I have read many reviews and did a lot of research on which traditional hamam in Istanbul has the most positive reviews by past users and whether the reviews are reflective of the services that will be provided. I can confirm the past reviews on this particular hamam service provider is closest to what I have personally received! No more nor less. I would highly recommend it to someone who’d not had the ‘Turkish bath’ experience before just like me. I did a walk-in recki trip and have found the receptionist very friendly and not pushy, i decided to not book anything right away and left the place without the staffs showing any displease. I was advised to go online to book a reservation if I wanted to use the bath and services to prevent the bath having too many guests, it was easy on their website from the Google map, prices were all clear and it only took a few minutes to fill in some simple details which wasn’t difficult at all and they offer many the time slots, I then received a wats ap message pretty much immediately with instructions, letting me know the options of what I could wear and what to prepare. It was really useful for a first timer like myself. I booked the full experience with face mask and oil massage Upon arrival, Baha, the front desk receptionist was helpful and all procedures were explained thoroughly and lots of reassurance whenever I had questions, I was give a key to a lockable room to change and place my personal belongings, it was spacious, with a bench, a towel, Slippers and a small envelope with my name was included, Wearing a swimsuit/ bikini / modesty coverage with towels provided is adviced for ladies in the common bath where it’s used both by men and women. The hot marble ‘bed’ in the middle of the bath was stunning, the whole bath was clean, no traces of misuse and it was well kept and maintained, the high level of hygiene certainly made me feel much more relaxed than I thought I’d feel. do bring a wet bag to bring your wet swimwear home , they will give you back the scrub mitt they used on you too and it will be wet, they will provide plastic bag, but you may not want to carry it around as it’s transparent. After 30 mins of being in the hot room, I was brought to a private room with two separate marble beds. It’s a full body scrub so no clothes are expected in the private chamber. The ‘scrubber’ did a wonderful job not putting me in shock and the exfoliation process wasn’t as rough as I have heard from some people who talked about what to expect from a hamam that scared me a lot, she did just enough, and I enjoyed it. the bubble bath was heavenly although it was quite awkward when the foam went all over the face, it really felt like being immerse in a foamy bubble arena but lighter and smelled lovelier. The key was to really be super relax and let them do the job, it was rather liberating to not overthink and it does feel like being a baby being washed, Except it’s more rejuvenating. Explanations were given throughout. I really enjoyed the post treatments drink, A home brewed juice/ tea was rather refreshing. I loved it , I’m sure there’s enough photos from others/ Google that many have shared. Hopefully my personal experience would enlighten someone who’d be just as curious about how it will be like as I was being a first timer. If there was six stars, I’d probably give that to this service provider Emrah the manager was certainly a great leader for his team and I can’t sing enough praises for the staff . A truly friendly and genuine Turkish experience

If you are trying to find somewhere in Istanbul for a Turkish bath/hammam experience - go here! Recommend here by a local friend of a friend and it also allows mixed attendance (males and females at the same time) whereas a lot of hammams in the city have separate times for males/females. Went with my boyfriend and you share a steam room with hot marble stones (amazing!). They give you towels to cover yourself with but you can wear some underwear on your bottom half if you’re worried about that and it is mixed male/female in the steam room (but everyone is super respectful and it was quiet when we went). You then go on to have a scrub and foam bubble wash (amazing!!) in a separate private room (just you and the person washing you). They give you amazing (!!) sherbet (traditional homemade drink) and the best Turkish delight after and you can just relax! I also got the package with the oil massage and the face mask after the bathing which were delightful add-ons and the massage is definitely worth it in my opinion. You can help yourself to Turkish tea throughout. They have some basic combs and hairdryers/moisturiser after but bring any other extras you want. There is a changing area just for you that you undress in and lock your things in while you’re there so don’t worry about that. Staff were kind, friendly, professional and respectful and clear the whole time. It’s beautiful inside and clean. They were also very happy to let me drink more tea after before I ventured back out into the streets of the city! 10/10 hammam experience and I’m obsessed. My boyfriend had an equally as great experience. From what we saw this was one of the more reasonably priced hammams in the city that is still great quality, I would definitely go again. Book now and enjoy :)

This was my first hammam experience and I’m glad i came to the oldest hammam in Turkey. The building seems modestly sized at first but as you move about the different spaces and floors you realize its a bit bigger. I recommend making a reservation. They will need 2 hours to confirm if they have space. Not sure if they take walk ins. Staff are super friendly and helpful. They’ll walk you through your entire experience. The male massagers are so much fun. Some clients get their scrubs right in the communal hammam space on the main heated marble. It’s a very entertaining experience. For women i think they only do scrubs in the smaller designated private room which fits two at a time. You could be in there with a stranger so if you’re shy bring your own bathing suit. They supply everything you might need, however, if you don’t bring a bathing suit, they provide a Turkish towel for you to wear. The experience for women is serene and relaxing. I had a scrub and massage. I came out feeling so relaxed and my skin is incredibly soft and smooth. After your massage you can wash up or, as they recommend, do a sauna circuit for up to 3 hours to really get the benefits of the oil used in the massage. I opted for the longer sauna circuit and used the time to stretch and rub in the oils. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you’re in Istanbul. A must visit!

It’s my first experience with hamam/Turkish bath. I booked in advance and got a confirmation instantly from WhatsApp. I arrived a little bit earlier than my scheduled time. I was waiting on the coach quietly. No one came over to take care of me until my time came. The sauna room had its original charm with high arch and marble counter, chairs and walls. It was mixed gender room. When I got in, there were three men already laying on the center table. I found a corner chair to lay down until I heard them left, I then climbed on to the table. Oh man that was heaven. The heat from the table flows inside to every cell in my body. That was so divine. The later scrub and massage were all good although I felt the masseuse was a bit lacking of energy. I like the lady who scrubbed me. She was so friendly and kind. Like my grandma. There was no restroom in the first floor where you got the sauna, shower and scrub. You have to climb up on steep and narrow stairs to go to the third floor to do the business. Overall it’s a unique and interesting experience. If I come back, I would skip the massage, only the scrub and may want to lay on the chairs on the second floor to relax.
