⛔️If you are “NOT” Turkish, just don’t ever mind going to this place!⛔️
Reason: I have eaten twice (two days in a row) in this place. I actually thought it is worth eating again here. The second time, however, I just witnessed a weird thing. They have two menus, one with slightly higher prices (20-30 TRY more for literally everything) for tourists and the other one for Turkish people. The menus with higher prices have white labels (saying the restaurant’s name: Baran) on the top left corners so the staff will not be confused while giving them to the customers :D
The first time they thought we are Turkish so we paid less prices for our foods (for instance, 60 TRY for a Lahmacun). The second time they obviously made a mistake by not recognizing us :D and gave us another menu with higher prices (e.g. 90 TRY for a Lahmacun).
After bringing up this with two of the waiters, I could feel the stress in their eyes (LOL). Anyways, at the end they changed our menus with a bunch of ridiculous justifications :D
Come on, I cannot feel comfortable in this city! What just has happened to Turkiye?! Since day one here, I could feel they have been trying to charge tourists for everything. Taxies, restaurants, recreation centers, historical sites, etc.
I’m in love with Turkiye, though it’s really ridiculous that the main financial resource of this country is from tourism, but they hate tourists. Come on! What’s going on with...
Read moreRude manager refused to serve FOOD
First time in my entire life that a waiter/“manager” refuses to correct an order that he took incorrectly.
My friend is ALLERGIC to tomato and doesn’t eat meat, so of course he ordered a vegetarian dish without tomato sauce. Well, food came and the dish had exactly the wrong ingredients. He complained to the waiter and, for our shock, the waiter refused to change the dish, saying that he was mistaken and it was not his fault. We were in 6 people, everybody got their plates. The waiter didn’t speak English very well so we were using Google Translator to explain that he couldn’t eat meat and tomato, but he was very aggressive, refusing to accept the fact he did a mistake. He wanted to make my friend to pay for a dish that he even couldn’t eat…. ???
When my friend said that he wouldn’t eat or pay for this dish, the waiter refuse again to give him something to eat. Again: the waiter/manager decided that he wouldn’t order the right food.
This is so disrespectful in so many ways. We were a group of 6 people, 5 of us already consuming food and drinks, all very friendly and trying our best to explain the situation, we definitely don’t deserve this experience.
I DEFINITELY DO NOT recommend. There are many other restaurants to explore and eat delicious...
Read moreOur first meal in Istanbul after we've landed in Turkey. Friend checked the Google and learnt that this place received good reviews, therefore we chose this place that's not too far from our hotel.
As we arrived we realized it was just after sunset, and the locals started their first meal during the Ramadan, luckily we got the table for 4 before customers started to pour in.
Since this was my first time in Turkey and the first meal, we had no experience in ordering the food, but only a brief knowledge about Turkish food that we learnt from YouTube before we came😅 Thanks God that there were photos of the dishes on the menu.
Friendly and attentive service at Baran. We enjoyed very much with the authentic Turkish food - Lahmacum, mixed Kebab plater, grilled chicken wing, and fresh salad that came along with the main dishes. On top of that, my friend and I first time tried the Ayran, we liked the drink as well.
A basic, but cozy restaurant where most of the locals come for their meals. It was a good choice for us to dine here. When in Turkey, do as the...
