The park at the upper end of Monastyrsky Island merits another entry because of how much is squeezed into such a small space. One of the first things you’ll see is a Ferris wheel and a kitsch Soviet-style amusement park aimed at the smallest members of the family. Turn left after the bridge and you’ll be at a statue of Taras Shevchenko. This 19th-century poet is considered a Ukrainian Shakespeare for his lasting impact on the Ukrainian language. And lastly, on the city side of the park is a dramatic man-made waterfall, built under the cross. According to legend St Andrew stopped at this very place during his voyage along the Dnieper in the 1st century.

Nice park in the city that is a tribute to Shevchenko. While I was there, they were showing an American comedy (I think it was Grown Ups 2) with Ukrainian dubbing. I grabbed some ice cream from one of the many vendors in the park, snapped a couple of photos and enjoyed the cool summer evening. The one picture is of Kyiv's accommodation for people in wheelchairs. This is one of the nicer ones I have seen, though all of them are just too steep to be safe, I would think. Some of them are just metal "skids" that are placed on top of the stairs. Not sure I would ever push my grandma up or down one of these.

It's a delightful little park adjacent to the Taras Shevchenko National University, which is itself a large multi-columned building painted a rather striking red. Festivals, vendors and street performers frequent the park, and I've not been here when it hasn't been filled with local families and couples relaxing and conversing. On the western side is a nice Ukrainian restaurant called Opanas. It's done in a style reminiscent of a Ukrainian village house and has a tree in in the center. Maybe a little kitschy, but friendly enough.

A oasis in the center of Kiev. A piece of peace and serenity. Walk, watch, buy some icecream. Hang out in a small coffee or get a bite to eat or just hang and absorb the local culture, the people and their idiosyncrasies. If the sun is shining, double bonus time. One of the best parks Kiev has to offer. However check out the almost uninterrupted approx. 8 km of park with incredible views, glass bridges, freedom arches, etc. Kiev shows off. Pretty cool and healthy after you walked it all.

Great park right in the middle of the city! There are a lot of interestingly looking benches, intricate walking paths and amenities. One should definitely try coffee in the old tram, which is now a coffee shop. There is also a blini window, good for a snack on the go. Coffee stands are all around the park, so be sure to grab one before settling on the grass with your friends. Often there are street musicians and dance evenings, which are building quite a romantic atmosphere.

Very nice park in the heart of the city. There is a large playground with climbers and swings for the kids. Our children enjoyed taking a tour around the fountain on electric go karts and the pony rides on the weekend! The park has coffee kiosks, a few restaurants that are very family friendly. Close to the university, the center of the park culminates in a huge statue of Shevchenko that is quite impressive and well maintained! Great park if you're in the city with kids😀
