We just finished a 6 day vacation visit to Dubai and this hotel was amazing. We requested adjoining rooms, which we were given on the 24th floor and the view of the river was stunning. The bellmen, front desk attendants and even breakfast restaurant attendants were friendly, solicitous and attentive. The hotel, shaped like king and queen chess pieces are beautiful and it was fun to find and view our hotel from other vantage points including the skyline when travelling and from the top of the Burj Khalifa. All Ubers, transports and locals (a friend) knew where we were so we were easy to find. An illustrative story: I used a converter, then attached a multiplug extension cord and something about the power conversion caused a scary sparking that charred our extension cord and converters. This shorted out the desk outlets and wanting to take ownership of it, I informed the front desk and turned over our charred electrical items in case that would assist the technicians. The desk attendant actually apologized to ME. Of course, I waved that off because though there was no sign not to try to use a converted multiplug, I felt doing so was a poor decision on my part, so it was really my fault. When we arrived home from an excursion later that evening, we found the desk plugs working and the multiplug extension cord plugged in to it with our extension cord and blocks cleaned up (!). While we decided not to use the extension (after the scary spark), we were very appreciative of the way it was handled. We purchased a package that included breakfast every morning at the hotel and found that to be an excellent decision and recommend that option, if available to you. We ate at the breakfast buffet restaurant every morning and whether we were early or late, whether it was nearly empty (early) or packed (late), the food was plentiful, the variety was amazing across the multiple multicultural stations and the attendants were uniformly helpful and attentive. When we asked for a late checkout on the final day of our stay (our flight was at 3am local), we were allowed to consolidate into one of our two rooms and stay until 6pm, which was a great help to us, allowing us to relax all day, check our bags with the bell station and head to the Dubail Mall for dinner and shopping before returning to collect them and use our transfer to the airport just before midnight. When we return to Dubai, we plan to stay at JW Marriott Dubai and can't recommend it highly enough. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and this hotel earns its five star status.
