The Guildhall Market is a hidden gem. Slightly off the main shopping area, and somewhat hidden behind the Guildhall, it is home to a surprising variety of small shops, mainly owner operated. These include a wonderful hardware store, a pet shop, two selling unique jewellery items, one selling pashminas and exotic fabrics, a couple of cafes, a sweet shop, a second hand bookshop, a haberdashers, a barber , and a lovely shop selling soap, incense, hand-made cosmetic products and locally-made art glass. The owners and staff are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their products, but also about Bath and the local area. They have an obvious pride in their market The building itself is fully wheelchair-accessible (from the High Street entrance) and is a great place to visit, especially if it's rainy outside.

There has been trading at the Bath Guildhall for the past 800 years. That should be enough for you to want to see the building and the market inside. There are approximately 20 stall holders currently in the Guildhall and sell a range of goods from leather items to teas, beers, and treats. The Guildhall building is also used to host royal visits and holds the council chamber for Bath and North East Somerset Council and the register’s office for the Bath and North East Somerset. You can also get a nice and cheap English breakfast at the cafe inside the Guildhall. Check it out!

It’s an Artisanal Market. Yarn is pricier, and most are acrylic 😅 But if you have a good palette for delicate tastes, you should definitely go to the tea makers, they have good selection of the classics! And I brewed the Earl grey at home. It was wonderful. Much better than Bird and Blend. The Bath tea makers hand mix all their teas, so it’s fragrant and natural. Bird and Blend’s teas have that artificial taste. Bath Tea makers don’t. Also highly recommend the cheese shop, the butter is good. I bought 2 home lol. 😂

It's an interesting small market with a Bath feel to it. Interesting shops selling a range of goods, food and coffee. For a snack, I recommend popping in. It also has a haberdashery shop. This is helpful and something for the dog or cat. It has a beautiful lantern shop and an amazing old jewellery shop that is inexpensive and a treasure. If you want to listen to the locals, there is a cheap affordable cafe that you will be welcome to.

Trading has taken place on this site for over 800 years and today you can still soak up the historic atmosphere under the magnificent central domed roof of this gem of a 19th century building adjoining The Guildhall. Discover the famous 18th century pillar ‘The Nail’ on which transactions took place, believed to be the origin of the saying ‘Pay on the Nail’.
