I lived in IQ from Sep 2018 to June 2019. Just want to review the good stuff but also the things I wasn't happy about. Good stuff: Good location: close to five ways station (can walk there along the canal instead of crossing the road), close to gym and city centre. Nice view from the window if you live on higher floors. The maintenance dude is very nice and polite every time he came to fix my broken shower. The cleaning lady is nice, we always say "hi/morning" to each other.
Things I was not happy about: There was a middle aged fat (sorry if the word is offensive) woman with white & blue hair (not sure if she still has that), who works at the reception, is quite rude and impatient. The facilities were old, especially your bathroom and bedroom. The lift went out of service at least 4 times during that year, I lived on higher floor and it was such a pain to climb every time. The study room. The staff occasionally just occupy the study room for their meetings, and won't allow you to use it. It is supposed to be available for students all the time. Parcel collection. They only allow you to collect parcels after 5 pm, it is not that a big deal but it just shows their attitudes are not great. Reception window. They sometimes close the reception window during working hours. So if you have something urgent at that time, you won't be able to access the staff easily. The window is supposed to be available during the working hours , or at least one staff is available. Before you moving in, they won't hire proper cleaners to clean your room. So it is always cleaned by the person who lived in that room before, which as you can imagine, is not that clean when you move in. When I moved in, the curtain seems hasn't been replaced/cleaned for years, the chair was gross and there was hair in the sink. So I cleaned everything by myself. So be...
Read moreThis accommodation does not deserve a single star. I have lived in many university accommodations during my studies but this is without a doubt THE WORST ONE. It's a real shame how the residence works, the staff is rude, the inspections to your apartment are constant, and the WORST thing of all are the fire alarms. They can be at 2 am and the alarm goes off, or at 8 am, again at noon, again at night... and so on. It's a nightmare. And even after all the torment we have to live among constant alarms no matter what time of day/night it is, right now we just had a fire drill. (YES SURE, BECAUSE WE BARELY HAVE this situation EVERY SINGLE DAY) And a staff member yelled at us for not leaving the building in less than 10 minutes... HOW IN THIS WORLD you want us to leave in 10 minutes when this alarm is continuously sounding we are getting used to live with it, if we have to go down every time we hear it we would have to live on the street. The staff members are aware of the continuous problems of alarms (you only have to look at the Facebook group of the residence, there are only complaints) and even so, they dare to organise several drills. I think they are laughing at watching the students freezing to death outside after the fire alarm goes off for the tenth time this week.
Apparently, since this attempt at a drill has not gone as expected, after shouting at us, they have assured us that they will continue to do so. It's a real shame of residence, besides being very expensive, besides the photos of the apartments do not meet the expectations, the coexistence here is really difficult.
Do not fall into the same trap, there are many other options, more economical and that will not give you so many problems. I wish someone had informed me properly before paying. DON'T BOOK YOUR ROOM IN...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the recent "renewal" of my shower in my accommodation.
I reached out to the accommodation management regarding the deteriorating state of my shower. Initially, the mold growth appeared as a yellow discoloration, which I promptly reported. However, despite my concerns, no action was taken. Over time, the condition worsened, turning brown and eventually black, which I was all present for and witnessed the full cycle of. This progression of the mold not only posed a health hazard but also indicated a lack of attention to proper maintenance and timely intervention.
Furthermore, I was forced to temporarily move into my roommate's room until my original room could be properly cleaned and renovated. This disruption to my living arrangements caused undue stress and inconvenience. Additionally, as a result of the mold and dampness in my room, I had to wash all of my clothes to remove the unpleasant odor. I believe that such conditions and the subsequent actions required on my part should be compensated accordingly. Given the circumstances, I kindly request that the accommodation take the following actions: Conduct a thorough and proper renewal of my shower, ensuring that it is in a safe and functional condition. Provide compensation for the inconvenience and stress caused by the temporary relocation and the need to wash all of my clothes. Take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future, ensuring the accommodation's maintenance standards are up to par. I trust that you will address this matter promptly and take the necessary steps to rectify...
