Hidden Gallery — Attraction in Bristol

Wandering through the Clifton Arcade I was delighted to come across a small art gallery full of the most astonishing works by modern art giants of the 20th and 21st centuries. Whereas I find most private galleries to be dark and unapproachable, this was different in both tone and presentation. The young, friendly gallery administrator Amy Hampshire enthused my son and I with her knowledge of the wonderful, familiar prints and paintings that adorned the walls and caught our eye and we were both delighted and surprised to find that a Matisse cut out; a Chagall print or a signed lithograph by Emin for example, was both affordable and payable by instalments and that each piece of work is accompanied by a statement of its provenance.

The Hidden Gallery and Amy introduced us to the joy of owning art and I cannot recommend Hidden Gallery and Amy enough for this. My bank balance however may not be as grateful…but the pleasure is immense! I thoroughly recommend Hidden Gallery for all prospective purchasers of modern art, however large or small...

Firstly, the Hidden Gallery website is a joy to browse through and I appreciated the expert advice given when I contacted them over a Tracey Emin Lithograph (My Favourite Little Bird) I was interested in, which I then bought. Secondly, I liked ordering the artwork through, in my case, the director of operations, rather than through a website electronic custodian! The wonderful Tracey Emin Lithograph arrived bang on time with the delivery driver enthusiastically saying "Im sure you know what this is"! It was very very carefully wrapped to within an inch of its life and I was ever so careful not to scratch it by using scissors to cut the wrapping off. Tracey Emin's lovely artwork now hangs next to our wall mounted TV so I can cast my eyes on it to lift my spirits if the doom laden news appears. I do so hope Tracey recovers form her recent illness to once again treat the world to her...

Buying art from a gallery for the first time can be daunting, but luckily Chris was exceptionally responsive via phone and text to talk me through options and share his expertise on the market in general and on the artist I had picked in particular. Chris was able to share insights that you won't find anywhere on the web. Despite strong demand and few pieces available at the time, Chris was able to source the artwork that was on the top of my list within a matter of days!

My print was custom-framed via Hidden's framing company to my exact specifications, rather tastefully and safely shipped to Germany, couldn't have asked for a smoother process.
