Was mine and my husband first visit and I had iCloud kofte and hubby had calamari for starters well I was blown away with my starter it was so full of Turkish spices and the calamari was really thick and the batter was slight crisp cooked to perfection. They gave us Turkish pizzas with our starter for free and they were super tasty soft and so full of flavour. Mains I had Adana and hubby had the mix grill well I thought I was in heaven eating Adana it’s full of flavour and cooked to perfection the portions were great I could hardly finish mine the mix grill was so tender and cooked to perfection again portion was great my husband can eat and he was struggling. Also I had a Turkish house wine full bodi delicious. As I though I couldn’t move or eat anything else the very welcoming waiter brung us over a free desert of ice cream and balaclava. I kid you not I’ve ate my fare share of this through time but this home made was delicious and light not to heavy. I couldn’t believe I ate it as I was so full but it was to delicious to not eat. What’s more I found out they have dancers on a Friday night from 7-9 what a treat to watch while having a beautiful meal. I will be back for sure. The decor is beautiful and the staff very friendly and welcoming. What more do you need. Value for money for sure. They play soft Turkish music in...
Read moreLocated in Newington. Memed has been serving up delicious Turkish food since 1989.
The restaurant is very spacious and doesn't at all feel like they have squeezed as many tables as possible in. Every table is served up delicious breads, dips and small mince style pizzas as a complimentary starter. This was absolutely delicious and I couldve ate that all night ( or until I couldn't any longer ! ) Along with this, our table of 5 had chicken wings and cheese stuffed mushrooms as the rest of our starters.
For mains we ordered chicken breast, lamb shish, 2 chicken shish and a lamb steak. Everyone was in agreement that the food was fantastic. Piping hot, well cooked and super tasty.
For desert, we ordered some wonderful Turkish Tea's and ice cream. In keeping with the theme this evening..... again we enjoyed everything served up.
The staff are very friendly and happy to help you out by describing dishes and explaining the various flavours. I would definitely go back and try some of the other items from their menu.
Would recommend for anyone wanting to try and authentic feeling Turkish...
Read moreWe were just two hungry Croatian people wondering through Edinburgh.. and then we found this place.. Amazing interior, super cool service, waiter Hamdin was super friendly, and food.. let me tell you about food.. it was the best meal that we had in Edinburgh (for now, because we will for sure come back again to this restaurant).. first we got a big wooden tray with homemade bread and little pizza and then we got a bigger wooden tray with one order (for my better half - oh boy she can eat 🤭) and one plate for me (I was a little bit jelly, because her wooden tray was bigger than my plate).. and then magic happened, soft meat with various flavours made a great combination.. I don't need to say that we ate it all (mostly me).. after that Hamdin gave as turkish tea and rice pudding for a great finale.. I recommend this place for a great meal with a great story.. 5/5
p.s. It's 22:25 and I'm still full.. my girl is happy because of that, because we saved money...
