Lovely beach for dog walking. Car park is cash or via national trust member bar code. It's best to walk as the tide is going out or a couple of hours on either side of low tide. For swimming, it's best on an incoming tide. Summer time there are lifeguards on the beach, and safe swim flags are placed out. There are a couple of little coffee, ice cream pit stops. Toilets are located in the car park. The roads down to the car parking area are very narrow, and the car park is relatively small, so in high season, you will need to get there early or park elsewhere and walk down. Nice surf business located in the car park, they operate all year. If their shutters are down, just call their number, and they will arrange to meet you. Beware of using the steps down from the area of the Bowgie Inn on an incoming tide, you can easily get cut off. Brilliant beach, I always go after the summer rush, lovely local people and a small flourish of us tourists.

One of my favourite spots near Newquay for being on the beach! The parking spot is great here, gets very busy during peak season but is ideal for people who want to park close to the beach. We love paddle boarding from here so it’s great we don’t have far to carry the boards, can only paddle at high tide and everyone should be very careful with the tide here since it can be strong and dangerous at times! Coffee truck is here most days and there’s also a ice cream box and toilets however they are locked in the evenings. Doesn’t ever seem busy in the evenings here, can still park and enjoy the sunset but they use a bar at the entrance to stop vans and campers getting in for the night, this happens about 6pm roughly!

Wonderful year round, dog friendly beach on estuary leading into Crantock Bay. Perfect for paddle boarding and nice and safe for children, once the water has dropped a little. Barbecue breakfast on the beach as need to get there early to get a car park spot at £8 cash per day (unless national trust). Catch the small fising boat across the river if the tide is high and climb steps up to the Fern cut and ferry Cafe for lobster chips and salad at £20 with breath taking views over Crantock Bay. Forget Newquay and Fistrel etc if you don't want the surf this is the most beautiful spot on the North Coast of Cornwall.

Just wanted to leave a review on here for the car park staff, one in particular who was incredible rude to my elderly farther and clearly doesn’t like his job. My dad has a van he’s super proud of with a rack on top for beach fun bits and bobs for our holiday and the car park has a barrier that blocks vehicles at a certain height from getting in or getting out. Supposedly everyone had been told all day about the barrier closing at 5 to 5, we hadn’t been told this, we were told by another lovely man with white hair that it depends each day on who’s in the car park. This 6ft, 40 something man with a terrible attitude marched over rather aggressively to shout at my dad as we were ready to leave at 5pm. It’s quite difficult for someone my farther age to attach heavy objects to the top of the van very quickly so you’d have thought, considering it’s summer and it’s the car parks staff jobs to ensure all customers (even tho we are national trust members ) have a pleasant stay and a lovely day out that a bit of understanding and consideration wouldn’t be too hard to muster up. You know I wouldn’t normally bother to write this kind of thing, but my dad is such a sweet man, said hello to all the parking men every day, he’s so sunny and kind to everyone. He’s asked every day what time we should be out and he didn’t deserve that or to be embarrassed in front of his family. The sad thing is the beach its self is absolutely beautiful, stunning day out with the family and the water is so clear. Amazing ice cream, coffees the lot I can’t fault it. But I can fault one of the men running the car park! So may I suggest to this particular parking person, that if you are that miserable then perhaps you should seek another form of employment as customer service clearly...

Well what can I say, I've been a Member of the National Trust for quite a few years now, we tryed to park the car on two occasions, and never had any Luck, but was told if you went really early you would get parked. So we went for the second time We were there for 9 o'clock in the morning with no Luck, so we had to pay another 8 quid to park the car, all collected by the people who work for the National Trust....... Now the people are great the place is Amazing, but there is not enough parking space for the amount of people that go to that beach, and I've not a clue how anyone can justifys 8 quid for parking a car, when minimum wage is not much more than that, and especially now we're all struggling and trying to get through the Hard times, and still give our kids a Holiday...... God Bless...
