Visited here on a Friday night after being turned away from 3 other places nearby because they were fully booked and busy. This place only had 2 people in and is very big and was looking at bit empty. We asked for a table 2 for and seated straight away. A nice man greeted, friendly, welcoming, offered drinks, brought menus, explained different dishes when we asked questions about the food. Didn't catch his name, but had a grey beard I think.
Place looked a bit tired but nice enough, the side plates and normal plates looked liked they'd been through the dishwasher a bit too much and could just do with a crockery and cutlery refresh.
Poppadoms and chutneys came first, the mango and onions were good but the white yoghurt type had a hair in it, we didn't say anything as s**t happens!!
Also had some samosa, bought in frozen ones by taste of it, but expected as it doesn't seem a place where a samosa would be made by hand.
Mains were average, we listened to what the server said, we also googled what was he said which matched up, but when the food came our dishes which were meant to be medium to mild were actually hot, not to the point of burning your mouth off, but it killed the flavour of other spices, just over took it. Then we found another hair in our naan. This time we mentioned it and the server apologised and said he would make the kitchen aware and took the food away.
He fetched the bill, apologised again and took affected item off the bill and was very apologetic.
Overall the place needs a tidy up around the edges, food was nothing to write home about but wasn't bad. Bit of quality control needed, bill for 2 of us with poppadoms, samosas, 2 curries, 2 rice and 2 naans and 2...
Read moreThis place is normally ok however after our visit last night we are not planning on returning.
Our first Indian visit since lockdown and found the restaurant quite dirty. Thought with all the time off they could have had a deep clean.
The service was disgusting. Some of the waiters looked as though they had never been washed all day.
Waited ages for below average food.
We witnessed two tables leaving without paying and a customer collapsing on the floor. The waiters just walked around her while a concerned lady customer helped until the ambulance called.
The lady in question who helped had to tell the staff to clean the area after the ambulance left. If she had not said anything I’m sure it would have just been left.
The drinks we ordered one was wrong. The nan bread never arrived . The prawns were disgusting and to finish the toilet was dirty. Loo roll on floor and in toilet. Hand dryer not working and no paper towels
Such a great pity because when the Indian man that is usually there the place runs like clockwork.
We will not be...
Read moreWell waited half the week to go to this highly recommended restaurant. I think I should end the review now. No, I will continue. We went with anticipation. We ordered chicken makhani which we have had quite regular on our trips to India. We wanted medium spicy. We also ordered jera rice. I will order came the rice was just like multicoloured pilau with some extra cumin seeds throw them did not resemble the rice that we are used to when we go to India as for the curry it basically tasted like chicken in tomato sauce we did set the waiter that it was very bland. there was no spice in it and it just tasted like tomato ketchup to which he sounded of hand when he replied we don’t use tomato sauce. We’ve just got back to the hotel and have a packet of tomato sauce and tasted it and it tasted exactly the same. All I needed was a tiny piece of chicken and I had the meal. I’ve just paid £12 for to say the least I wasn’t happy with the meal so I don’t think that we will be returning to that particular Indian...
