I love Preston Sands, go there regularly to walk the dog. But since 1st May dogs not allowed on the beach, until end of September. Booooo!! I understand why, it's more important for the council to receive the blue flag award for the beach and it's cleanliness, to attract more tourists to the bay. However, the seagulls make as much if not more, mess than the dogs, and can be Vicious stealing food from tourists. This year the seagulls seam worse than ever. Because we had a mild winter and because the seagulls are fed so well, they started breeding in February this year, usually not until May. So come the Autumn they will have had 3 lots of baby gulls. Most of last winter there were young fledglings, the ones with grey feathers, all over the beach and parks. They are a nuisance and are not an asset to us as a...

A nice beach area though there is not much else to do around other than hire a beach hut and go to a snack bar. The beach itself is supposed to be dog free but plenty of dogs were being walked along the promenade.

More of a place for families with young children to play on the beach than a great familiy location. Plenty of older people using the area for a walk.

There is a large well tended grassed area behind the beach huts where dogs can go and children were playing. There were also public toilets.

When we went in early June it was raining hence only one snack bar was open, the other did not look like it had been open for ages. Probably better in high season with...

We went there early June and the sun was up in the sky hot and breezy at a temperature of 22degrees plus. Straight away the kids begun to build their sand castles. Preston sands was a magnificent beach with panoramic view and fine grain sand which felt good and therapeutic under the feet. The evergreen seaweed also gave the water an interesting alternating pattern colours of green and blue which was mesmerizing to the eyes. I finally got a chance for a swim. Suffice to say the experience of swimming at Preston sands beach was peaceful and exhilarating if you get over the initial chill. For lunch we had the most deliciously tasty fish and chips I've had...

We visited Paignton for the half-term and one of the activities we enjoyed was a boat cruise from Paignton to Torquay. It was beautiful experience, we could see and learned from our host about some historical landmarks like the singer family home, the Grand hotel used by Agatha Christie for a wedding anniversary, a few of the harbours , it's a children and dog friendly beach. Good for going for walks or run. We could see the beach from our apartment. We hope to visit sometime next summer.

Fantastic beach for families. Sheltered so calmer waters for paddle boarding. Tide times aren't great and high tide wipes out the beach, but go early and have a great day. Bar next to the beach in high season for refreshments, public (payable) toilets and kids play park on field behind. Carpark is either a long the road or just off the main road at the end of cul-de-sac (big public car park).

Nice long sandy beach, we stayed on the quieter side of the pier where the beach huts are mainly. Great surf but shallow a long way out which is good for kids. Lots of little ice-cream and coffee trucks around and nice little play areas along the esplanade. If you want crazy golf and fun fairs there's more going on towards the pier.
