Well where do I start, on arrival we tried to book a table and one member of staff said there wasn't a table then there was another lady who said we can get you in so I thought great 7 o'clock table we stood and waited and eventually got seated got a drink ordered our food and tbh it was really busy and we asked how long was it roughly before and was told 40 mins so I thought it's not the end of the world so 40 mins went by 50 mins 1hr so my wife went and asked they said your next she cam e and we was still waiting 1hr and 30mins it decides to turn up to our horror the sizzlers wasn't sizzling really cold I called a member of staff and questioned my steak on my surf and turf because I paid extra for an upgrade she said you didn't upgrade I said I clearly have its on my receipt, to save the hasel I said not worry and started to eat I thought here we go food was freezing there was 4 us eating and all had sizzlers my wife had chicken fajitas that was clearly not headable but because she was being polite and didn't say anything my 2 friends said ours is bad steak was like pure grisel and was freezing basically wasn't no good to eat and mine also the same so I asked for the manager and a lady came up to us and said she isn't in today so we had abit of a moan I said straight away we want refunds and the lady said OK I can't refund your wife's as she has eaten some of it I said your having a laugh it's freezing my wife aid don't worry about it at this point I thought was disgusting she went away and came back back and if you don't have a refund we can get your meals out in 20mins and better this time we agreed and said yes anyway our food comes a little hotter this time but the steak is full of fat and couldn't even chew it so we had all had enough by this point went back to the bar and explained and a lady called Charlene or something like that don't quote me I said the meal was even worse would she mind taking a look at all the meals she blanked as such we sat outside to finish our drinks I went back inside and asked and she said to me I haven't had time do I have any feed back I said yes I wouldn't hand this to my dog absolutely apoorling and bad customer service, she must of thought only holiday makers she was...

The establishment has certainly gone down hill over the last few years. Pre COVID, the food was amazing and the prices great. The atmosphere hasn't changed, it's very family friendly and sort of a pub classic sort of vibe. You do get the overly obnoxious people speaking too loudly and kids pretty much every time you go though, running around. They do have colouring and crayons.

I ordered a halloumi burger. I am by no means vegetarian, but it is mostly seen as a vegetarian meal and I have purchased this from other establishments many times. What I received, was a cheeseburger, with halloumi on top. After taking out the meat I did not want, I basically had a salad in a roll. Now, my bad for not reading it properly, but it took an hour for this meal to come. We pre booked the table, and I wouldn't even say it was manic busy. That is just typical service time, an hour.

The food that came was fine. It didn't change my life but it wasn't so disgusting I couldn't eat it. By the time you have waited an hour you'd eat anything.

There is parking around the back, first come first serve. There is about 20 or so spaces (maybe less) so it is near impossible to get your car in most days. For reference, we got the last space on a Thursday night at 7pm. You have to type in your car reg, so make sure you do that too.

It is good prices, for my 'halloumi' burger (which came with chips and onion rings), some garlic bread on the side and an apple juice, it cost about £17. That isn't too bad at all for the prices nowadays.

The upstairs seating area is almost always closed off and half of the place is a bar, so it goes to show it wasn't that busy at all.

We tend to go for birthday meals, which is fine. It's cheap and there's something for everyone to eat. I would recommend going for those easy cheap meals but don't expect more than what you pay for.

Outside...

The ship inn paignton booked a table for 3 my first disappointment was tables absolutely disgusting I was sticking to it Then I went to order some food My partner and his friend ordered their steak what was ok. I wanted the salad with out tomatoes and bacon Just wanted the chicken The staff asked me have you got any allergies I said yes I can't have tomatoes or bacon Sorry you can't have the salad as it's already made up but you could order off the children's menu she told me Why ask me if I've got any allergies if you can't accommodate them. I ended up with hunter's chicken and rice I wasn't going to argue with her about can you take the bacon off . I just took it off when it came after Waiting over an hour .The chicken was very dry and the rice was cold And the source just looked like glue and cold . So if you have allergies I would never go to the ship inn paignton they cannot accommodate you . there may be short of staff so that's why it took so long for the food to come But surely the management should be more proactive . and only have half the restaurant open I have now found out that all their food is ready made up. and they ping in the microwave. so if I could I'd give them a zero I'm so disappointed. This was the 30.8.22 We booked a table for...

If you’re looking for fresh out the freezer, microwaved cheapness then here’s your place! The macaroni cheese did in fact contain macaroni and cheese, but that was around it. Dish was roasting hot and the cheese wasn’t crispy. 10/10 microwave special. The garlic bread was limp, yet remarkably had grill lines on. 10/10 Sharpie marker special. The value for money is excellent. I don’t know what more I expected for a £6.00. I do recommend bringing your own MSG to enhance the flavour. Also free parking and picturesque views on the B3201.

I need an office for the day and feeding, also meet a friend for lunch here. Did my research and it seemed an ideal place. I was not disappointed, atmosphere great, food excellent and inexpensive, good choice of drinks and had non alcoholic Guinness. We both had the mixed grill one of the best I have ever had cooked just right and only £11.99. Desert was apple pie for me and Cheesecake for my friend. Has it's own free parking too which in Torbay is a massive perk. Guest WiFi worked fine for 6 hours too.

Breakfast served from 9am £5.69 absolute bargain The evening meals are pretty good too very cheap and nicely presented and taste great too It's location is great just a few minutes from the seafront and because the beer garden is south facing it maintains the sun from early morning till sunset great for some all day drinking in the sun
