Had my first ever experience with paddle boarding today and loved it! Opted for a private lesson. Sean, the instructor, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He knew how to adjust to my specific needs, making the lesson a very pleasurable experience. Just popped down to Abbey Sands with my son for a hot chocolate, it was very good but expensive. Nearly didn't bother as whilst waiting for the customers in front of me to be served, I witnessed one employee ask another for something to be passed over. It was thrown over, landed on the floor, picked up then put straight into the drink that was being prepared. If I hadn't promised my son a hot chocolate I would have gone elsewhere. Easily one of our favourite local hangouts, featuring a pair of cleverly and tastefully converted shipping containers, right by the beach. The coffee shop / bar has something for everyone including great coffee, a range of quality pastries and cakes, soft drinks, not-so-soft drinks, hot dogs and (new for 2024) sourdough-base pizzas.
