Despite living in Portsmouth one of my favourite concert venues is miles away. Sure we have the Guildhall, Pyramids and the mighty Wedgewood Rooms which all have their own pros and cons. We don't have anywhere quite like The Dome though. From the well-stocked (although a touch pricy) bar through to the unusual circular auditorium The Dome is a great gig-going experience. Whether it's standing stalls (Nick Cave was an absolute joy a few years back) or seated as it was on my most recent visit for Richard Thompson it's hard to have a poor view. I was quick enough off the mark to snag front-row tickets and whilst I could have used a touch more leg-room it was wonderful to watch such an under-rated guitarist as the former Fairport Convention star up close. Parking is close by but expensive; we park on the seafront near another fabulous Brighton venue: Concorde 2. Free after 7pm and only a short 10 minute walk. Would be a bit too far in the pouring rain but on a warm June evening it was fine.

Van Gogh Alive at the Brighton Dome Van Gogh compares his masterpieces to the labourers who work in fields. As you enter the tall sunflower displays it's as if you are seeing sunshine for miles. Then go no further to step out along the enchantingly lit café terraces and mesmerising starlit skies; it's easy to see this symbolic love of otherworldly colour has a comforting and welcoming feel. In particular, the violet blues, lemon-yellow and orange - the colours that made the artist feel safe reflected in all the paintings as well as the disintegrated chair. The show was amazing, filled with a real perceived sense of terror, love and personal memories. Every canvas is brought to life with it's own unique sound, especially Almond Blossom. The venue is perfect in size, has a café and gift shop full of memorabilia. Drawbacks: The Brighton crush (standing room only), advisable to pre-book a train seat.

Went to watch the Rude Science show withy children. I was concerned with being in a wheelchair if I would be able to travel through the venue easily and would I see the show. The staff were tremendously helpful from the start to end of my booking tickets. Upon arrival it was busy but no queues. We scanned our ticket and an attendant took us to where we would be seated. I was pleasantly surprised they had took a chair out for me to have wheelchair access and be able to sit together with my children. There was no problem with any access at all. Was a fabulous show which we all thoroughly enjoyed. We got to have a picture with the main star Stefan Gates too. Lovely decor throughout, clean, tidy and beautiful place. Helpful and lovely staff.

Appalling Customer Service and Unreliable Ticket Protection

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with Brighton Dome, and I feel compelled to share my concerns to warn others about the lack of customer care and the questionable practices associated with their ticket protection services.

My ordeal began when I had to file a complaint regarding an issue with my tickets. The initial response from customer service was shockingly inadequate. They informed me that I would need to wait an astonishing 21 days for a response to my complaint. Unfortunately, even after patiently waiting, I did not receive any communication from them.

What's more distressing is the apparent disregard for customer concerns and the lack of follow-up. Despite my persistent efforts to chase and seek resolution, I have yet to receive any acknowledgment or satisfactory response from them.

Adding to the frustration, they partner with a dubious third-party company for ticket protection. The company claims to protect your tickets in case you cannot attend the event. However, my experience, along with others I've come across, reveals that this third-party company is nothing short of a scam. They not only fail to fulfill their promises but also make it exceptionally challenging for genuine refund requests to be processed.

In my case, seven months prior to the sold-out event, I attempted to utilize the ticket protection service due to unforeseen circumstances. To my dismay, the process was convoluted, and the third-party company did not honor the protection they claimed to provide.

I am deeply disappointed by Brighton Dome's disregard for customer satisfaction, evident in their abysmal customer service and association with an unreliable ticket protection partner.

I strongly advise potential customers to exercise caution when dealing with Brighton Dome, considering the distressing lack of accountability, unresponsive customer service, and the unreliability of their ticket...

Beautiful venue but somewhat dated. The bar area is very modern but the seats inside the stalls were VERY uncomfortable. We were only there for 2.5 hours with an interval half way and my hips and knees were so uncomfortable/painful. I mean, I'm only 34! So those who are more on the fragile side, will likely struggle to sit for long periods on the uncomfortable seats and literally NO leg room. I would actually go as far as saying the lack of space ruined the 2nd half of the performance for me as I just wanted to stand up! With there being little stagger between rows, I spent the show either leaning forward watching eitherside of someone's head (missing centre stage) or sit back and see very little. That's enough of the negative! The staff here were lovely, toilets very well maintained (queues are long but move quickly due to amount of cubicles). Great selection of drinks, albeit expensive. £6 for a can of Red Stripe is robbery but with venues like this, all food and drink is hiked to a stupid price. But were cold, iced and presented in clean plastic cups which you can take into the auditorium with you.

All round, great experience but will avoid this venue in future if possible, due to lack of leg room and...

Brighton Dome holds an extremely important place in my Heart, despite being the place where ABBA won Eurovision and David Bowie Performed, it is also the place where I hold a small history.

In 2015 I was singing Opera as part of the Invictus Choir celebrating 800 Years of the Magna Carta, a truly important event in British History and Definitely one of the proudest Moments of my life.

4 years later in 2019, I was involved Behind the Scenes as a Broadcast camera operator for the Big Christmas Sing a Long Choir, I remember sitting in one of the private booths with the Camera and this was the first time I have ever filmed a live event on the Internet, and it was without a doubt another great moment in my career as a Filmmaker and I wish i can go back and do it again.

But the 3rd time I visited the Dome has to be the most important event of my Life and only happened a day ago, The Dome hosted my Graduation ceremony and graduated from University as a Bachelor, the Most Amazing Moment of My Life.

Brighton Dome will forever be a special place for me and I will 100% recommend to anyone who wishes to see a performance.

Thank You for the Great Memories...
