The King & Queen on Marlborough Place in Brighton is a traditional public house built on the foundations of a twelfth century farmhouse serving coffee, beers and cocktails with various specials, local, wider domestic and imported. They also have a menu of great looking pub fare, although I didn’t sample their wares. It has been rebuilt a couple of times over the years and opened in its current form in the 1920s. The interior decor is where old meets new with traditional stained glass, coats of arms, leather couches, low and high top tables and a well stocked bar area. There’s also a more modern Pit Stop area up a rounded stair overlooking the main pub floor. The area is spacious and comfortable with several televisions playing football matches and chill musical ambiance. Free high-speed WiFi is easily available with the network name and password on easily-readable signs throughout the pub. The bartenders are attentive and always ready to answer your questions, make recommendations, and tell you the local history, whether about local brewery Harvey’s in Lewes, or the evolution of the grounds and buildings. There are also several gaming machines, a pinball, and a pool table. If you’re looking for a historic pub to relax and recharge, this is the place to be.

Ah yes, what a delightful experience at this fine establishment. First off, the venue is massive—plenty of space to get lost on your way to the loo. The garden is equally enormous, perfect for letting your dog run free while you pretend to enjoy the atmosphere (which, to be fair, is actually quite nice). Bonus points for being dog-friendly—finally, somewhere my pup is welcome to suffer with me. We tried the chilli con carne on chips, which was surprisingly decent. A solid choice if you’re after something warm and comforting. The burger and chips? Let’s just say the chef must be on a strict low-sodium diet—zero trace of salt or pepper. Bold move, going for the “flavorless” trend. Now, the beers were... fine. Nothing to write home about, but at least they didn’t come with a twist of disappointment—unlike the Long Island Tea. And by Long Island Tea, I clearly mean whatever that was. Apparently, someone in the back thought “lemon” and “lemonade” were interchangeable. The result? The sweetest, most tragically confused cocktail I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting. Tasted like someone carbonated a mistake. All in all, a spacious, dog-friendly venue with an atmosphere that almost makes up for the cocktail crimes. Almost.

Are a football lover? Are you looking for a place where to watch your favorite football team with a nice energic atmosphere? That's the place you have to go to! Came here for Liverpool vs Napoli, and I enjoyed it despite the result :( They were showing 2 different matches, both on big and small screens all around the place, there were then 4 team supporters cheering for their team, there was an exciting atmosphere! :) This pub its really big and they also have a big backyard with TV included... Good selection of beers and food too.

Had the upstairs area booked privately for my Hen/Stag party at the weekend for a group of around 20.

We had a buffet ordered which was alright food, chicken wings, goujons, sandwiches etc but the Groom is Gluten Intolerant and this was flagged when booking I believe and to be honest there was nothing he could really eat, there were some olives and falafel but the majority of the food wasn't gluten free and he had to go out and find food elsewhere during the evening.

The staff were nice enough and we had security at the bottom of the stairs to make sure nobody else came up but the bar upstairs was rubbish. They had no mixers on tap and not even any bottes open, they just had pre filled bottles of coke and lemonade that went flat and then when I took a drink to the bar to say it tasted really off was told it was flat, I asked for another drink with a different mixer to be told that was also flat, but my issue was this then wasn't rectified and as Bride I then couldn't have anything with a mixer? I had apple juice as a mixer as per the bar person's recommendation and to be honest it made me feel ill.

The advertised 2 for £12 cocktails were only available downstairs which meant people kept having to leave the area to go to main bar anyway as the selection upstairs was very limited.

I asked for a B52 shot and was told they'd have to charge me for all three shots despite it being only one shot of liquid so obviously I didn't bother but the they had limited spirits upstairs and only sours and tequila.

It was nice having the private area but I didn't feel like the customer service with the bar...
