Darcy Mews — Attraction in Great Britain

Fantastic location, right next to the River Swale. The accommodation is of a very high standard, and it is also furnished to a very high standard.

We had a great time and were very comfortable, the only thing that caused a problem and the reason for only 4 stars is the stairs in the house and the steep hill outside the house, which did cause some issues for a member of our party that has restricted mobility but is ambulant.

Unfortunately after a visit in September 2023 I must change my rating from 4 to 3 and also add that we wont use this accommodation again. There is parking on site for 1 car only for each accommodation unit, however this restriction is poorly enforced by the management and while we were there 2 different sets of visitors used the turning area to park additional vehicles, this made turning impossible for us. After raising the problem with the management we were subjected to aggressive and threatening behaviour by one family who took offence at our raising the matter.

I was informed while there that this parking abuse happened often, it spoiled our holiday and I would not wish to risk the same thing happening again.

Darcy Mews is perfectly placed in the heart of Richmond, a 3 minute walk from the main market square, shadowed by Richmond castle and immediately next to the River Swale and Richmond Falls.

A tastefully converted set of luxury apartments in a gated community proved to be perfect for a few days in the Yorkshire Dales.

We stayed in No.5 Darcy Mews which is easily accessible from ground level and the rear courtyard parking. All mod cons provided in this 2 bed apartment and was very comfortable and warm.

Although this was a good experience, the WiFi throughout the apartment was weak and kept dropping out, the welcome pack had been forgotten but quickly resolved and due to it being a pet friendly apartment, there was a slight aroma of dog and or clothes were covered in dog hair. This is a shame as the people staying should respect this lovely place and keep them off the furniture.

Plenty of things to do in Richmond or even have a cosy night in if required.

Darcy Mews is very good accomodation and well worth considering if wanting to stay...

Difficult to gain access to the key box, lever was quite stiff, entered the property and was hit by a wall of stifling heat, curtains and windows closed in the penthouse, cobwebs on the ceiling in the lounge, apart from this the apartment was beautiful, overlooking the river swale, a hot weekend so lots of people swimming in the river, leaving lots of rubbish when they left, also some guys pitched a tent overnight, lighting fires so the whole apartment stank of smoke, thanks to Ryan from the office who sorted it out for us, apartment is at the bottom of a very steep hill, so not good for anyone with mobility issues, could do with some air conditioning putting in, we had to have the bedroom door open all night just to get some air in, all in all we had a nice weekend, but be warned Richmond...
