Staff came into our room while we slept - hotel called us liars and refused a refund.
My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in May – we seemed pleased with our accommodation on the day of arrival, we suffered an horrendous ordeal on our second night.
At around 3am my partner vaguely awoke after hearing what he thought was a knock at the door- he was then startled hastily awake by a member of your staff letting themselves into our room by key whilst we were asleep! I was then shocked awake by the panicked cry of my partner shouting the individual “what the Hell are you doing coming into our room?” This was met with a mumbled apology and they backed out of our room and shut the door, we both heard a key being removed from our doors lock.
We were both very unsettled and could not sleep. I have contacted the hotel 3 times since returning (no reception during checkout) to request a refund- we had paid for a room to offer us a protective place to sleep and rest, which was not what we received. First response accused me of lying, saying it was probably that we hadn’t shut our door and another guest thought it was their room, they appreciate people there drink – why would they have knocked before coming into their own room? Also, my partner and I had not been drinking, but had taken an early night after visiting the cinema- we came in and after he shut the door I asked him if he had closed it properly, to which he checked he had. I responded with this and was ignored. I chased my refund again and was told that I’d been given an explanation and that there was nothing else they’d do.
I have always travelled for work and love to travel for leisure and in all my years I have never been made to feel so vulnerable nor mistreated. Why had this person sought out a key for our room and entered at 3am? Had they met someone at the bar that they had wanted the privacy of a room to be in with? Did they require the privacy of a room for something more intoxicating than alcohol? Though surely they would have seen that we had the main key for the room and they would have needed to obtain the spare- did they know we were in there, fast asleep and thought they wouldn’t be heard creeping in with criminal intentions?
The whole experience is the stuff of nightmares- you expect to be able to feel safe when you sleep at night, not to be attacked whilst unconscious. I’ not sure what’s worse – waking up to a stranger in your room who has a key and has entered premeditatedly – or the hotel not even being surprised by what I’d told them. Do they know this is what their staff do? I’ve asked for information on taking this further and I’ve not received it- are the staff there in on this?
There are many lovely hotels in Weymouth, I would urge anyone wanting to visit this lovely seaside town to consider any other establishment to stay in so that you aren’t put through the...
Read moreStayed here for 2 nights cost us £120 was very disappointed. We were shown to our room we booked a small double room and ended up getting a twin room and we were told we could rearrange the furniture which isn't right considering we booked a double room. Once we were in the room we went to unpack and the draws kept falling over when you opened one draw, the whole room goes down hill to the right so it feels like you are constantly walking around on a slope. Went to the bathroom the toilet roll holder and towel holder is hanging off the wall and moves around everytime you touch it, the celing in the bathroom is disgusting it is black like a black sort of mould/damp with spider webs in the corner. The floor in the bathroom creeks and has separated from the shower, the self under the mirror is slopped and hanging off so you can't put anything on it because it all falls off, no hand soap provided which is basic hotel/B&B standards, the back of the toilet was comimg away from the wall and was in an angle and when sitting in the toilet you mean to the right. When it came to sleeping one mattress was harder than the other one and the pillows were rock hard glad we bought our own. The tv is tiny and you can't lay in bed and watch it becasue of where it is on the wall half the screen goes grey and you can't adjust it to have a clear picture. The owners obviously live within the premises because walking up The stairs to get to the room we heard a dog barking which surely isn't right when the website says pets are not aloud. The pictures on the website look absolutely nothing like the actual rooms which is poor and misleading. The only good thing about this hotel is the view from the room! Overall would not stay here again because it is substandard and not worth £60 a night! Not happy...
Read moreGood quality, massive choice of cocktails and friendly service, bartenders were very efficient and welcoming. Good music being played too from what seemed to be a quality sound system, overall a good atmosphere with a lovely view and nice outside space! However my girlfriend and I both agreed that the toilets let the place down. Working in a nightclub and having managed a pub myself I know what it’s like going in the loos at the end of the night and it looking like a gross bomb had landed and regretting your job choices, but it was 6pm on a Sunday and you could smell the loos before you saw them there was chunky sick all over one of the cubicles in the ladies and the gents was covered in urine and the lock on the cubicle had been booted off causing me to be disturbed multiple times during my bathroom break haha! Luckily we both have a good sense of humour so still enjoyed our visit but felt if the loos were as well presented as the venue we would have wanted to stay for more drinks. We will definitely return though when we are next...
