This is called a 'stone pier' but in effect, it is more of a harbour wall. It sits below the Nothe Fort (which is also well worth a visit) and on the opposite side of the estuary to the more traditional wood and cast iron pier. It is quite long and has plenty of seating if, like me, you need a rest. The views across Weymouth to the east and towards Portland Bill are excellent and looking back towards the fort gives a great perspective of the importance of that fortress. There are numerous people fishing and, whilst I an sure that there are exceptions, on our visits, they have been very happy to answer questions about their sport.

Amazing place to visit, with 360 degree views. Fishing is outstanding, and not very difficult. In 2 days I caught about 100 fish. Including Pollock, Gar, Mackerel, Bream, cuttlefish,Squid. I’m total got about 10 different species. We’ll worth a visit I’d say.

Excellent destination for a day out with friends and family. The place is most suitable for short walks, calm time spending and fishing. Proximity to Nothe Castle is an added advantage.

This is a great spot to breathe in the sea air and there are fantastic views to be had of the surrounding coastline.. Popular with anglers and walkers.. There's a nearby café (Stone Pier Café) that besides serving up a good menu of hot food and drinks also sells crabbing lines...
