After a visit up the hill to visit the park and views up by Fort Nothe we headed back down the hill on the side of the harbour and towards the pier at the base of the Fort. That's where we found the Stone Pier Café. It's been under new management and ownership since April 2017 and it's had a complete overhaul away from beans on toast and microwave pasties to tasty fresh delights like whitebait, calamari, Dorset crab and falafel. If that's not to your taste then you'll find "safe" options like cheese toasties and hot dogs. We (my wife, four children and parents in law) tried the Dorset crab sandwich, a couple of varieties of toastie (which were deliciously fried rather than a toasted sandwich maker), hot dog, falafel and hummus wrap, and squid fingers (like fish fingers, but squid). They were all delicious. The coffee was also freshly ground and great quality also. The meal was finished off with Mr Whippy (with a flake) all round which we took down to the little, secluded pebbly beach at the base of the Fort right by the café. The location is fantastic with panoramic views from Weymouth, the harbour and round to the Jurassic coast and open sea. You can see in my photos just how well situated the café is. The owners and staff were really, really friendly which is always the difference between a good place to eat and drink and a great place to eat and drink. If you're that side of Weymouth visiting the Fort then make sure you stop by.

After the lockdown of Covid, this little cafe is open again. My wife and I went there today and although they say it's a limited menu, it's still offering enough. Had a bacon sandwich. Obviously, you cannot sit down at any tables, but we just sat on the harbour wall and enjoyed the sun. Also saw the lifeboat come back in from a job and a tame pigeon came and said hello. They use biodegradable cups etc for those who are eco friendly, with bins for recycling clearly marked. Tables are positioned in front of the ordering area, so you cannot get too close to the hatch, 2m distances are marked clearly with green tape and there is a separate pick up area for food ordered. Great little spot, under the shadow of the Nothe Fort..

Never review but pretty disaapointing. Drove an extra 15 mins to come here because of the high reviews. ordered the garlic prawns which were a bit overcooked. but more importantly, 75%+ of the prawns had eggs. they're edible but I was not told of this beforehand, was a pretty gross surprise. At the price point of the place you feel like you're being mugged off. Nobody came to check/take plates away despite me being there for 45 mins. Should have gone Billy Winters again.

A regular haunt, it's a shame being so exposed that you are at the Marcy of the weather. When it is sunny it's lovely, the food is good quality and the gulls (mysteriously!) never seem to bother customers.

We had one issue whilst they were very busy a few weeks ago, where our food was taken to the wrong table and we waiting for almost an hour. But once we queried it after tables that sat down after us has been served it was worked out and our food was served promptly, with the server offering us complimentary cake and drinks as way of recompense. I marked the service down by one star as the man who came out to investigate what had happened initially seemed quite suspicious that we had been served already, and once he worked out that the food had been taken to another table by mistake he explained to us what had happened, but didn't actually apologise. However, the young server did repeatedly and also offered us the complimentary items. The more senior staff member could take a leaf out of the young un's book of...
