A very interesting and different experience filled with history and interesting facts.

We were led into the caves by our tour guide Jacob. He was really friendly and extremely knowledgeable, it was nice to see that he clearly loves his job. He did speak very quickly so was often hard to keep up but he was genuinely lovely to be led by and clearly wanted everyone to have a great, memorable and informative trip.

I do think the entrance fee is over priced for what the cave is. I don’t want to take anything away from the experience as it is very good. But honestly the £18+ price to get in is just a bit too much and would think realistically you should be paying no more than £12 for entry. You also have to pay for dogs which is a bit of a con…

This is one of the biggest caves I have been in, larger than cheddar gorge and was great to see the river running through. The river was very unique and really cool to see. There was also a section where Jacob turned on the UV lights which allowed the stalagmites to be shown in a different ‘light’ which was very interesting.

The cave itself does have a few sections with steps, and it is also quite slippy in parts. There are low ceilings but adequate warning of these and the tour guide was sure to warn the group when they were coming up. We had a toddler with pushchair with us but did need 2 of us to manoeuvre the buggy up and down the stairs.

You (typically) exit through the gift shop, which has lots of random bits for sale. Some of the stone/marble ornaments were actually very good value. There was also a selection of locally sourced sauces and jams etc which looked really good.

Overall I would recommend the experience, but it is just a shame they charge a bit more than what they should for...

I had a few hours before my outbound flight through Manchester would depart. Found a couple of caves in this area and figured it would be neat to visit one. Ended up picking this one and drove over to it.

Friendly staff behind the counter. Clean restroom.. There is paid parking which you can pay for either at the meter on the parking lot or just mention it inside and you can add the, I believe 2 pounds, charge for it to your ticket purchase.

I've seen quite a few caves in my life already and must say this visit was very worthwhile. The cave itself was nice but certainly not the most impressive I've ever seen. However, the young man guiding me and another couple through the cave was very fascinating in telling about the history of the cave. It was a very intriguing story how the cave was used a long time ago already and how it has expanded over time. They're actually still exhausting it today and digging their way into a new still concealed, part of the cave.

Loved the mixture of history with science with story telling and the enthusiasm. Bravo!

Very much worth visiting, even if you've seen many other caves before.

I took the 10 AM tour on a Saturday. There was almost nobody there at that time but the rest of the day they had quite a lot of bookings. I didn't book in advance as I wasn't sure if I could be there on time and there's no refund for missed tours so I took my chances for it not to run full, which it didn't. If you want to be sure of a slot, book and pay ahead through...

Going on from the wonderful reviews of this place, me and my partner was disappointed when we visited yesterday. Once parked up, we went to get tickets for the tour. You can only go in with a tour guide. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but wouldn't stop talking and it was very aimed "like a children's entertainer" vibe, thoughout the tour, there's a good path throughout the cavern, no hard hats needed apparently as its a natural cavern, even though there's a lot of stalactites hanging from the top of the cavern. The tour was 40 mins or so, but without the tour guide it would only take you 15/20 mins to walk one end to the other, it was very short and what seemed a dead end when the tour ended. This is great for small young families, but when you are experienced and enjoy caves etc and discovering for yourself / love adventure this isn't the place. There was no freedom or roaming and looking as everything was shown by the tour guide by a torch, and a very stop start tour. The cafe was poor, and small. The cafe/gift shop building needs updating not only in the cafe but gift shop and muesum (display cases) needs an update and a needed a bigger building when you are queuing up waiting for your talkative tour guide. It's very over priced too. Very...
