We booked direct through the Roseleigh website and got a very good price for our two night stay in Buxton. The communication throughout was excellent with Gerard informing us of places to eat and visit before we had arrived. We arrived and found a car park space in the designated bays which are available to residents without booking. Gerard met us, gave us a quick history of the area and places to see in town and then left us to settle in to our room. As soon as you open the front door you are greeted by a beautifully furnished property and a lovely scent in the air. We had booked room 4 which is very spacious and the fittings and decor reflect the period of the property. The room was ensuite, had a wardrobe, desk/makeup area and two lovely leather chairs in the big window to admire the views of the Pavillion Park opposite. The guest house is a 5 minute walk along a wide footpath to the historical buildings of Buxton. There is a communal lounge which has a range of books for your perusal and a large dinning room where breakfast is served. For breakfast there is a choice of continental or English. If you want more than what's on the menu; just ask! The food was fantastic and the service equally as good. The property is very open in it's webpage about how many stairs you will have to climb to access your room but the stairs are wide and adorned with photos and landings superbly furnished. Please see the website for more details about location, facilities and food options. It gives you lots of detail. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and hope to...
Read moreThe owners of this charming guest house are exceptionally warm and welcoming. Jarred (I hope I’ve spelled his name correctly) is remarkably knowledgeable about the surrounding area. He offered thoughtful recommendations for restaurants and hiking trails, and even shared fascinating insights into Buxton’s rich history, taking the time to explain key historical events. The guest house itself enjoys a superb location, directly opposite a beautiful park that is truly a hidden gem—well worth exploring at a leisurely pace to appreciate its natural beauty. Buxton is a delightful town with friendly locals, and you’ll find plenty of inviting restaurants to enjoy. At Bailey’s, be sure to ask for Steven—the Rothschild wine is excellent value—and at Simply Thai, look out for Oliver, the charming “Harry Potter” look-alike, who provides wonderful service. Breakfast at the guest house easily rivals that of any fine hotel. The hot porridge and freshly baked scones served with tea were particular highlights, though the menu offers plenty to...
Read moreJudging by the reviews of others I am sure this is a nice B&B but unfortunately after booking and just a few days before our planned arrival my father had a stroke (and subsequently died). I explained this to Roseleigh by email and said we couldn’t come. They ignored my email and charged our credit card the full amount anyway. We subsequently asked to transfer our booking to the future. This request was refused. Made an already bad situation worse. Dubious business practice lacking in an empathy. Your reply to this review neglects to mention that despite your automatic email system logging your replies to me I told you that I didn’t receive one of them. Thus the first I knew of your actions was when my credit card bill was charged.
I don’t want to get into the forensic detail here but the bottom line is that your business made zero attempt to help in any way and just took the money because “the terms and conditions”...
