Adding to the appeal of The Cheshire Cheese is its location. Nestled in a scenic area, it offers an ambiance that is both inviting and relaxing. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a leisurely meal while soaking in the surrounding beauty. Overall, The Cheshire Cheese strikes a balance between delightful cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere. It's a great choice for anyone looking for a satisfying meal in a pleasant setting, whether for a casual lunch or a more intimate dinner.

We visited this pub a couple of times over a weekend in Buxton. It's lovely inside, with plenty of space, and warming fires too. Dog friendly. The staff were very friendly and helpful. On Friday lunchtime it was quite deserted but we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch despite some first choices of meals and drinks being unavailable. I can recommend the "Steak and Titanic Plum Porter Pie" - very flavoursome and filling!! On Saturday lunchtime we stopped for some drinks. It was much busier and had more atmosphere. I can recommend the Titanic Plum Porter. I could have sat there and quietly consumed that all afternoon had I been allowed to! There is a car-park at the rear....

A warm welcoming experience with exellent cask ales, food and staff During our stay in Buxton we visited a good sellection of the eating and drinking establishments, however the Cheshire Cheese stood out from the crowd. The staff were welcoming and friendly and very professional. We were served at the bar in a timely fashion and never had to wait a long time for our food to arrive. The quality of service you receive in this establishment is exellent and all the locals that frequent the bar area are very warm and welcoming. I will end by saying that I would not hesitate to recommend you take a visit to the Cheshire Cheese in Buxton.

We went for a Sunday roast after reading reviews of good food. However we arrived and were seated on a tiny table in the fishbowl. They told us that there was no beef as they had run out but everything they had plenty of. We ordered food and sat back down, when we went to get our third drink after waiting for 45 minutes, we asked how much longer the food was going to be. They then told us that the food was 1 hour 20 minutes wait. The couple next to us had been waiting 55 minutes as well and the bar staff apologises to them and offered them a free drink, but they didn’t even check on us. Their food then turned up after hour and half and their gravy hadn’t even been mixed, visible gravy granules floating in the gravy, they said their parsnips and carrots were raw. Our food then turned up, they got the wrong meat and had to send it back for the correct meat. Our parsnips were also raw, we didn’t even get any carrots and barely any veg, the stuffing wasn’t cooked, it wasn’t a roast chicken obviously a frozen chicken breast that had been blasted in the microwave. They then had the audacity to ask how our meal was, after the couple next to us complained to them about their dire meal already, we complained about the same items plus we only got one parsnip and they got two and we got NO carrots! They then told us after the meal that they were running low on veg (good time to tell someone don’t you think?). They offered the other couple another free drink and not us and the lovely couple next to us with their lovely dog Holly gave us the free drinks which was a nice gesture. Considering the price you would’ve expected homemade gravy, the fact that we paid the same price for the 3 meat roast and to not receive or be offered extra meat as a replacement!! When you go out food you expect it to be better than cooking at home and a treat, and you certainly expect your food to be at the very least COOKED!! No one came to apologise or offer anything to say sorry. We felt sorry for the waitress as she was trying her hardest and obviously not her fault, she also said that other tables had complained and that they were taking some items off the menu. No one from management came out at all. We’re not angry we were just very very disappointed in this establishment. We normally share our food experiences on instagram but in this instance I’m going save instagram the...

This delightful pub has mastered the art of making everyone feel welcome - two-legged friends like myself included, but also our furry companions. The atmosphere is cozy and convivial, with rustic wooden tables that seem to whisper "come hither" as you settle in.

But let's get to the good stuff: the beer! Oh, glorious brews! The Cheshire Cheese Pub boasts an impressive selection of craft beers from local and national breweries. I indulged in a few (okay, maybe more than a few) pints of their signature ale, which was as smooth as silk and left me wanting more.

And then, there's the food - heavenly creations that will satisfy even the most discerning palate! From hearty pub classics to innovative twists on traditional dishes, every bite is a delight.

The staff at the Cheshire Cheese Pub are as warm as the atmosphere they've created. Attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about their products, they'll guide you through the beer menu or offer recommendations on the daily specials with a smile that's almost as bright as the pub's sunny disposition.

In short, this Buxton gem is a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly enjoyable experience with friends -...

Decided to eat here for Sunday dinner menu stated serving till 9pm, next door the sun inn was fully booked for dinner, guess we should have realised when we walked in here and it was half empty something was amiss, straight away the waitress said the only meat they had on was gammon and a alternative lunch menu was available apart from no pie or steak which were also unavailable, by this time we were very hungry so decided to go for the gammon, purchased a bottle of wine and paid for the Sunday dinner, about 15mins later a server came over and said they'd run out of roast potatoes but we could have mash as an alternative we should have given up then but we grudgingly agreed to accept , after another half hour the dinner arrived if I had been serving I would have been embarrassed 1 slice of gammon abit of mash 3 carrots abit of cabbage and a single yorkie pub we just looked and laughed, the best bit was when the poor waitress came over and asked if all was OK, we voiced our disgust but she just said sorry, the food was truly dire and the lack of care for customers experience was...
