“Double-Check Prices Before Service at This Shop”

I recently had my punctured inner tube repaired at this shop, and I was assured by the owner himself that the service would cost £12. I even asked twice to confirm the price, and both times he stated it was £12. However, after the repair, I was charged £20, which was double the price I had been quoted.

The owner now claims this price has been fixed at £20 for two years and is listed on their website. However, I had no way of knowing this beforehand, as I’ve never used this shop’s services before. When the issue occurred on the road, I simply went to the nearest shop to resolve it. I assumed asking for the price beforehand and confirming it twice would be enough to avoid surprises. It never crossed my mind that I’d need to check their website to prevent overcharging.

Instead of confidently insisting on their version of events, I suggest the owner check their security camera footage to verify what was actually said during the conversation. I have been a loyal customer of Clapham cycle for quite some time and have always been very satisfied with their service. They've fixed my bike on numerous occasions, and I've consistently found their work to be top-notch. Their staff has always been friendly and accommodating, which made me trust them with my bike.

However, my recent visit was quite disappointing. My back brake broke unexpectedly, and I needed immediate assistance to ensure my safety. When I arrived at the shop, I encountered a new staff member. Despite explaining the urgency of my situation, he repeatedly told me they were too busy and insisted I leave my bike for several days before they could even look at it. His lack of concern and unhelpful attitude was a stark contrast to the excellent service I had experienced in the past.

I understand that shops can get busy, but a little empathy and effort to help in an emergency would have gone a long way. I hope this was an isolated incident and not a sign of declining service standards. As much as I value the quality of their work, this experience has made me reconsider returning to Clapham Cycle...

Just wanted to say that those guys are great professionals and amazing humans too!

You barely find any other shop in London which serves similar pricing, with high quality! I never needed their help in something serious, only changed pedals a few times and they charged just £5 (however very close to this shop there are others who’s asking £15-25 for the same service).

They also have a free bike pump in front of their shop, which is a nice and kind gesture of them. I used it a few times too, when really needed.

They are good in communication and very helpful.

If you live neighbourhood, I highly recommend those guys … every honest human and business deserves support!
