Great for fruit & veg, good for almost everything else like clothes, accessories, fabric, toys etc . . . Not all the stalls are available with the same frequency but basically food and clothing are always available, most days will have fabric, books and toys, Sundays have the amazing flea market stalls. The few fabric stalls and haberdashery stalls have a goos selection of goods. When the market is closes there are still loads of convenience shops, butchers, fabric shops and fast food places to enjoy.

Historic market. It is especially crowded on Saturdays and Sundays and you can find from vegetables and fruits to clothes. The quality is not that good but it is okay if you plan to eat some of the products right away. Prices are the cheapest I've ever seen in London (e.g. 3 avocados X £1 or 6 oranges for £1). You can also find fresh fish and several butcher stores.

A traditional street market with the majority of traders selling fruit+veg, everyday household necessities and budget apparel, catering primarily to ‘locals.’ A bustling get-on-with-it, no-nonsense, in-your-face zone, bare-knuckle prices, testy traders and curt banter. Here, Gentrification came, saw ..........and buggered off.

East Street Market in London is a vibrant and bustling market that offers a diverse range of products, food, and cultural experiences. Located in the heart of South East London, this market has been a staple of the community for over a century and continues to draw in locals and tourists alike.

One of the highlights of East Street Market is the wide variety of fresh produce and international foods available. From Caribbean spices to Asian vegetables, the market reflects the multicultural nature of the area and provides an opportunity to sample flavors from around the world. Additionally, there are numerous stalls selling clothing, accessories, and household items, making it a great place to find unique and affordable goods.

The atmosphere at East Street Market is lively and energetic, with vendors calling out their wares and shoppers haggling for the best deals. It's a great place to immerse yourself in the local culture and get a sense of the community spirit that thrives in this part of London.

While the market can get crowded at times, especially on weekends, it's well worth the visit for the authentic experience and the chance to discover some hidden gems. Whether you're looking for fresh ingredients for a home-cooked meal or simply want to soak up the vibrant atmosphere, East Street Market is a must-visit destination in London. Overall, I highly recommend checking out East Street Market for a taste of the diverse and lively atmosphere that makes London such a...

Natural, unadulterated sights, sounds and smells of selling, buying and just on-looking, touristic South Londoners laid out before you here. First-hand, fairly-used and home and wardrobe goods, ranked a little below the grades for 'the upper markets' are here on display and are warmly cherished by the hoipolloi. Leafy and fruit vegetables of all floral genera, breads from India and the African west coast compete for custom and the hums of a cacophony of human voices and tongues pavade around like an aura. Business is done apace, smiling faces all around. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth... it echoes itself here. Try it, shop here sometime soon, walk around and through it's length, feed your eyes, learn a few new things. Highly...

Love the market. Do not like the Turkish Kebab restaurant. Food takes ages to cook and he is (I believe) a tax fraudster, it is a "cash only" business. I have reported him to HMRC simply because he would not give me my money back for very average meal that took a very long time to cook. Good luck to him. He doesn't realise, for the sake of offering me back my overly priced £8 meal which was mainly rice and took 45 mins to cook that he can be fined to bankruptcy, closed down and potential prison sentence of many years. Anyway, we will see how that one goes. Otherwise, East St is awesome. A shop for everything and generally quite cheap....apart from the Turkish Kebab House. I genuinely hope he is taken down. A very...
