Kennington Lane Kebab (aka Kennington Lane Café) is a place I discovered by accident when living around the area in Vauxhall that has remained a place I consistently go to (even as I’ve moved out of the area). This restaurant has never let me down and I can’t rate this place highly enough: from the food to the people to the large portion sizes at great prices( it’s a plus in my book!). Expect to be treated as a family member and for this place to feel like your home away from home while in London. The owner , the head chef, the daughter and some of the staff are Turkish Cypriot and are the friendliest, most hospitable people you’ll ever meet. You won’t get this kind of service anywhere else. Finally, the food itself is fresh and tasty, perfectly- grilled and seasoned with some homemade sauces on the side. If you’re visiting as a pair and have an enormous hankering for grilled Mediterranean food, I recommend the grilled chicken platter, guaranteed to wow you and satisfy your cravings. By all means do visit this place, contribute to small, independent businesses and bring your family and friends as I did. Side note: the Café does not sell alcohol however I have seen the owner recommending vendors just a few meters away that you can bring with you to the café, so don’t be afraid to ask...
Read moreI have been telling my family tales of the delights of kebab shops for years. We finally got to experience it together, and this simple shop delivered fantastic food and a wonderful, friendly vibe. When we came in, it was slow (early) and the staff was friendly and offered to deliver the chef’s platter for 2 which fed three of us with a lot left over. Everything on the platter was simply fantastic and the people made the experience so much better for my family’s first kebab experience. I highly recommend getting one of the platters over just a doner kebab. The falafel, hummus, garlic sauce and hot sauce paired with everything perfectly and I had to fight to stop myself from overdoing it. This will be a stop whenever we are in London, even though it’s a bit out of the way!
They also told us that they make a prized English breakfast, but I may not be hungry in the morning because they were so generous with their yummy food. All that was less than 50 British pounds!!
Summary: great people, fantastic food,...

Sadly I was greatly disappointed. Firstly we ordered a platter for 2 and despite being the only patrons, our food took 20-25 mins to come. As for the food, I will start with the one I was really disappointed in - the Adana kebab. Taste was average but it was so so chewy. Genuinely the worst Adana kebab I’ve ever had The lamb chops were also very chewy and we struggled to eat most of the meat. In general the meats tasted average at best and definitely needed a kick. The rice was tasteless. Salad and chips were standard. I’d say the saving grace was the chilli sauce that came with the meal which helped to make the food palatable. It was also quite annoying that the food was served on a tray covered in foil so when we used our forks we would be inadvertently eating some foil.
Bear in mind we were both very hungry as well as we hadn’t had lunch and we both did not enjoy the meal at all.
Definitely not...
