Designed by Wren, the majestic Naval College is a masterpiece of architecture. The power and status of these buildings have led to them being used for many Hollywood films, including recently Les Miserables. When Pirates of the Carribean was filming here, Jonny Depp paid a surprise visit to a local primary school; a pupil had written asking to meet Jack Sparrow! His dream came true. The gardens are surprisingly mellow and relaxed. I've already visited them million of times and I'm looking forward to getting there again. This area of naval college has got a very special atmosphere because mix the garden park with the history of the buildings and gallery around. Go by the Thames Clipper to Greenwich (don't forget..sit on the back) and then walk through the college and its grounds to the National Maritime museum and then on to Greenwich Observatory. Plenty of (pricey) refreshments, but you could take your own picknic. There is so much to do, you'll need a day. Beautiful historic buildings and parkland. Fantastic views from the top of the hill.
