Really disappointed, booked a table for 7 for 14:00 on a Sunday the pub setting was nice and is somewhere we have popped in for a few drinks in the past and always thought we will try this for a meal one day. My wife arrived ahead of the rest of us with my three children she had to find a member of staff to show her where our table for 7 was reserved the person who seated her suggested she pull two tables together which she had to do herself the out door heaters wasn’t working so she was given one blanket for a table of 7 to use. I arrived and she hadn’t been approached for drinks or menus, the staff looked visibly overwhelmed by the work load I don’t know if they was short staffed and I’m not blaming the staff but they wasn’t able to be attentive. We decided to order drinks from the QR code for table service 10mins later our drinks still hadn’t arrived I went into the bar to see what was happening and eventually managed to get the drinks sent out. When they finally arrived we asked the staff member if we could please order food and she kindly got a college to approach the table to take our order, now remember this is Sunday so we are looking to get a roast it’s 14:30 I ask for three roast chicken dinners to start and was told there is no roast chicken only 1 pork belly and 2 beef left we are a table of 7 the staff member did double check and with the kitchen and came back with the same disappointing answer. We left very very disappointed and won’t be returning I’m afraid, we actually went to the Spanish Galleon across the road was warmly greeted and seated almost immediately despite how busy it was the staff where very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us and to make our day had plenty of roast dinner selections that where absolutely delicious, so in the end it was a happy outcome and we have found a be local for our friends and family Sunday dinners.

Also wanted to add that even if it is technically legal to smoke outside it is basically a covered area, to have Ashtrays on every table and people smoking around food and family’s with children is t a...

In my experience, granting any establishment a coveted "5 star google review" is, to say the least, a laughing matter. However, stepping foot into the famous Gipsy Moth pub was, in many ways, a revelation.

The weather, as I recall, a raging tempest of biblical proportions. The wind and rain battering Greenwich like the fearsome kraken of old. It was there, dear reader, whilst I gripped with all my fearsome might onto the mast of the famous Cutty Sark, that I saw it. Glowing spectacularly in that misty storm like Poseidon's trident. The Gipsy Moth. I made my way post haste, practically collapsing through the door, eager to warm my weary bones.

"Land Ho!"

The awe inspiring interior, meticulously decorated with maritime decor, gave this ol' sailor a sight for sore eyes. As I approached the bar, still dripping from the ravenous storm, I glanced upon their fine selection of lagers, ales and all matter of brews. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed! Never in all my days has this salty sea dog been so spoilt for choice!

"Perhaps, Fiddlers green!", I thought to myself!

Alas, all that glitters is not gold my friends, as with this hefty selection came the burden of selecting a fine beverage. That's where Anna came in, guiding me through the bar like a trusty map and compass. She recommended a fine rum... yes, yes... it was a fine rum indeed.

As I sat by the fireplace, warming my bones, my rum and sailors pipe in stow, telling the younglings of my adventures at sea; I felt peace for the first time in my life. An overwhelming, sublime peace.

I shan't ever forget the kindness and hospitality Anna showed this old sea dog, along with the warmth and splendour of the Gipsy Moth. Thank you Gipsy Moth, heaven truly is, a place on earth.

And with that, I bid...

I stopped by The Gipsy Moth in Greenwich recently and, honestly, it’s hard not to enjoy yourself in a pub like this. It’s right next to the Cutty Sark, so the location is spot on—perfect for a drink after a wander through the market or along the river.

The pub has that classic British charm with a bit of nautical flair, which fits the area perfectly. Inside, it’s cosy and atmospheric with low ceilings and wooden beams, but there’s also a lovely beer garden out back that’s great in decent weather. It definitely feels like a proper pub, not something too polished or generic.

I had a bite to eat while I was there—[insert your dish here, e.g., the steak & ale pie or fish and chips]—and it was solid. Nothing groundbreaking, but hearty and satisfying. Portions were generous and the food came out hot, which sounds basic, but isn’t always a given. The drinks selection is decent too, with a few local ales on tap, standard lagers, and a nice gin lineup.

Service was friendly and fairly quick, especially considering how busy it can get. The staff seemed on the ball without being overbearing.

It’s the kind of place that works for a casual lunch, a relaxed evening pint, or even a bit of a pub crawl stop if you’re exploring Greenwich. The mix of locals, tourists, and regulars gives it a good energy without feeling too hectic.

All in all, The Gipsy Moth is the kind of pub you keep coming back to—not because it’s fancy or flashy, but because it does what it’s meant to do really well. A proper pub in...

On a sunny weekend afternoon this place looked stunning; catching the sun and covered in lovely flowers meant it was impossible not to stop in and have a drink in the small garden area outside. From here there’s plenty to observe with a great view of the Cutty Sark and nearby buskers adding to the atmosphere. There’s some large tables present for groups as well as plenty of areas to stand. The staff working behind the bar weren’t very welcoming or friendly, not saying anything when they look at you to take an order, nor saying thank you or indeed anything else when they serve the drinks and move onto the next person. Two cokes were provided in glass bottles, but there was no offer of a glass or ice. Card machines are mounted on the bar helping to speed up the payment process. Prices are reasonable for London especially given the prime location. Toilets are located upstairs and really nice - clean and modern. Overall a decent place to stop by and chill out for a while.

On Sunday, after running the half marathon, we stopped by The Gypsy Moth in Greenwich and were looked after by May. She was an amazing host—always checking in on us, super attentive, and genuinely delightful. It made our visit feel extra special, especially after such a long run. I ordered a Sunday roast (beef), which was really tasty and comforting. My friends had burgers, which looked incredible, and I also noticed some fish and chips going by—big portions and very tempting, so that’s definitely on my list for next time. To drink, I had a Neck Oil, which was served nice and cold (exactly what I needed), and a glass of the house red wine, which was surprisingly very good. We left really happy with the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and especially May’s hospitality. Can’t wait to come back!

We were looking around for somewhere to eat and decided to grab a drink while we were here too. The place itself was very nice, no doubt, plenty of seats inside and out with great views towards the River Thames. The food was alright from my point of view, but the others seemed to love theirs, perhaps I should have gotten the bangers & mash? The only thing I found strange was, they ran out of kids fish and chips by like 3pm...the staff were nice at least. Getting here via other public transport would be either the Docklands Light Railway to Cutty Sark, the Docklands Light Railway/Thameslink/southeastern via the Greenwich station, Greenwich Pier and the local buses but you could also try the Greenwich Foot Tunnel if you're coming from the northside of the river. Recommended.
